Pet care experience
I have 25 years experience caring for and training my own dogs, and I have been training professionally for over 8 years. Working through my own dogs’ struggles with reactivity (barking and lunging at other dogs on leash and kennel guarding) piqued my interest in dog behavior, and competing with my pups in rally obedience and agility brought out my love for dog sports and teaching! I love helping people make progress and meet their goals - whether that's a polite couch potato or a well trained and exercised pup! And if your only goal is a fun, safe place for your pup to crash while you travel I can definitely help! In addition to my training skills I also have experience with administering medications (both orally and injected), and caring for dogs of all ages - from your excitable puppy or adolescent dog to your senior who needs a little extra care and attention.

We loved Amy. She house sat and took care of our two bulldogs. She sent great updates and awesome photos. We felt like we were there! She also asked great questions that assured us she was thorough and gave us have peace of mind while we were away.

Amy was fantastic. We left our old Jack Russell terrier rescue with her for a week while we were out of town and she proved that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. She has two dogs that were a bit reactive to Cappy at first on a leash but accepted him into their household, most likely because of Amy’s good guidance. We will definitely get with her again if we need a sitter!
Amy is an amazing dog sitter. She has not only taken care of my boy Rocky but also has trained him some as well. Amy is also a trainer for various groups around town which has helped Rocky over the years. Overall, If you want a kind and highly qualified person to help take care of your animal she is your ticket! She will be my first choice for dog sitting always.

I love all dogs and have no preference for age or breed, but I always like to know what your pup likes and dislikes ahead of time so we can get off on the right foot!
A typical day
Depending on your pup's preferences we can hang out and play at your home, or take a jaunt around the neighborhood. For Adventure Walks your pup and I will usually head for a nearby park or down to the James River Park system if it's not too far from home!

Availability
I teach classes and private lessons at Level Up Dogs Sports on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The rest of the week I teach private lessons, so I have flexibility on MWF and the weekends to take pups out on adventure walks, or do neighborhood walks and drop in visits.
