Former shelter worker, seen it all

Pet care experience

I am a compassionate former shelter worker who has dealt with a little bit of everything. Caring for animals is one of my main concerns in life, as I have owned dogs of every size, shape, and temperament in my life. Through the shelter, I worked with many scared or "off" dogs. I also have cat and small animal experience if you have other animals in your home! When I stay overnight in someone's home to sit, I treat their home as my home base for that time. Your animals will only be alone for my work day and if I need to run any errands. I work a full time job outside of Rover so I am gone for 9 hour windows of time. Sometimes they are odd hours so you may have to supplement my care with someone else for potty breaks. Since I treat your home as my home base while you're away, they receive the same care and attention as when you're home! I tend to talk to the animals, so we have a running (albeit one sided) conversation going. Whenever there is time, I incorporate walks. I spend as much time in your home with your animals I can. When I have a day off from my job outside of Rover, I will probably spend 80% of the day in your home. These days, I can pay special attention to them as we platy fetch, go for walks, lounge, or whatever else your dog (and other pets) would like to do!

Amy is spectacular!! It was my first time having someone stay in my home, and I couldn’t have selected a better person! My cats (3) were all happy and not stressed when I got home. I have a difficult situation with 2 of them not getting along, and Amy handled it all beautifully. My house was in perfect condition as well. I would recommend her to everyone!

Amy was absolutely fantastic. She did such a great job with our sweet Sophie. She was thorough and took the time to get to know Sophie. She was fantastic with given Sophie her daily meds. She even unloaded the dishwasher and put her used linens in the washer (I didn’t ask her to do any of that). Amy went above and beyond. We will definitely be using her again in the future.

Absolutely wonderful. Had to give one of our wiggly little cats pills once a day and absolutely nailed it. Even chased him down like a pro when he spit one out. Couldn't be happier and will absolutely be booking Amy for future stays if possible! Thanks again!

Safety, trust & environment

I talk to and sometimes even sing to the animals that I watch (I have discovered that all dogs love to be sung to no matter how bad it is). I am very careful with doors/gates/etc to ensure the safety of your animals.

Information Amy J. would like to know about your pet

I like to know of any behavioral issues ahead of time, especially when aggression is involved. I will watch aggressive dogs, within reason. I have watched blind, epileptic, and diabetic dogs in the past. I have also watched cats who have seizures. Health issues are not a problem!

A typical day

I love to play with dogs and discover their favorite toy while I am with them. Whatever they enjoy, whether it be walks, tug, fetch, enrichment toys, or something else, I will participate in with them while I am watching them!

I sometimes work odd shifts at my job. They can be as early as 5am or end as late as 10pm but I often work in the middle of the day. The shifts are 8.5 hours so some dogs may need someone else to supplement my stay for extra potty breaks.
