PET CARE EXPERIENCE Pardon my lack of dog selfies. I'm new to Rover and my pet pictures are all from my own point of view. I grew up on a farm with every stray dog and cat that came along. Later, I took on two rescue lab puppies. One got adopted after a year; I raised the other to old age. The pictures above show her dying in my arms, then her grave. Somewhere along the line, I saved and tamed a wild feral cat; that's her lounging in the plant pot. Later, I enjoyed a couple years gushing over horses as a carriage driver. Now, I want my freedom, so I get my pet fix from other people's pets. Most recently, I pet-sat for two weeks while the owner went on safari. I have a different 3-week stay booked in June. I am new to Rover and do not wish to add non-user's emails to this site. Testimonials will come when Rover fans book me.

SAFETY & TRUST I am a certified school teacher with behavioral training. Believe it or not, this helps with animals. I talk to pets like they are people. I watch their body language and make sure their needs are met. I maintain boundaries as with a child. I am a naturally quiet and focused person, but I still limit distractions to allow fully-aware supervision. I closely monitor exits and objects that need protection. If misbehavior happens, I change the situation rather than try to discipline. With dogs, I practice skills with positive reinforcement. To the degree a dog is able, I like to get them outside and exercised as much as possible. If a pet is shy, I sit on the floor and wait for them to inspect me. If a dog is hyper, I ask permission to take them to a dog park. If aggression shows up, we immediately go back home. I get a feeding and med schedule in writing and follow it closely. If strange behavior occurs, I try to catch it on film and notify the owner. In all cases, I provide the owner with key-moment photos and final written feedback.

Vet's name and address, first and foremost. Then, does your pet have any physical restrictions? Tell me their social attitude and fear factors. Should we avoid people food? How often and how far can he/she walk? How does the dog act around other dogs? Should I stay on the opposite side of the street, or step up for a sniff fest? What happens in a storm? Floor or bed?
A typical day
I spend so much time on a computer that I crave and need physical activity. Romping with a pet is wonderful therapy for me. If a dog is up for a jog, I'm bringing my running shoes. If there's a shedding brush around, I'll comb undercoat as long as the pet allows. Bath time? Bring on the shampoo! If I am near a dog park, I will spend my lunch break there. Only once did I have a puppy out-activity me, and that was due to his reversed sleep schedule. If a pet is too old for fun, then I'm camped out next to them on the floor or couch.

Availability
SCHEDULE I live alone and spend most of my time on a laptop. I am booked away from home 10 hours every Saturday and Sunday. During the week, however, I create web content, working wherever I want to. Taking walk breaks and talk breaks with a pet keeps my spine and brain healthy. I have other activities that I would like to attend if it's okay to leave for a few hours. If not, I can work around it.
