Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 10. Family and friends have relied on me to walk, feed, and stay overnight with their pets for a week at a time when they've gone on vacations. I have stayed in their homes or made drop-in visits to feed their dogs, take them for walks, and let them out for potty breaks. Friends have also dropped off their dogs with me for the weekend to care for them when they were away. My 19-year-old son Ethan is also a dog-lover. He started working for Rover last year (dog/house-sitting, dog-boarding at my house, and walking dogs) and he loves it. That's when I decided I could also spend time doing what I love: caring for animals on the weekends, holidays, and in the summer when I am not teaching. I would love to provide a loving and focused environment for your fur baby while you are away. I have experience with senior dogs, puppy training, and teaching basic commands. Over my lifetime, my family has personally owned a Golden Retriever, 2 German Shepherds, a Chihuahua, Jack Russells, 2 Laboradors, and a Great Dane. I have also worked with friends and family's dogs of all sizes and many different breeds.
Reviews
I have known Amy for at least 20 years, both personally and professionally. She is a very honest, kind, and dependable person and always does an excellent job with any task that she has. She took care of my pets (3 dogs and a cat) in my home for a week several years ago. She was very caring and treated all of the animals like they were her own. It was so nice to know that I didn’t need to worry about my animals or their care while I was gone.
Amy is wonderful with pets! Our dog, Hooch, has stayed at her home several times. Amy is patient, affectionate, and kind to Hooch. She is a great at communicating and organizing schedules for drop off and pick up. I would highly recommend Amy's services.

I can provide nearly constant supervision. My backyard consists of a large sunny, grassy area for your dog to run around and smell all the smells (see my photos). It is surrounded by a 6 foot cedar fence with 4 large shade trees, roses, and other landscaping. There is a one-level deck with two steps down to the yard. Your fur baby will be in very good hands with me. I have a very friendly, loving Golden Retriever to keep your pups company if you prefer to board your dog at my house. I can also separate him from your fur baby if he/she is anxious around larger dogs. I have gates to keep the pooches apart until they have time to adjust to each other. I also have a large crate to separate them for feeding times, overnight stays, aggressive or destructive behavior, puppies who are training, or for males who mark their territory inside. I can also stay at your house where I can walk your dog around your neighborhood and/or let your dog out in your backyard where they will feel safe and comfortable at home. I will send you photos and send updates to let you know how your dog is doing. I will give potty breaks as needed or every two hours based on your dogs typical schedule. I can also give medicine to your dog. I can tell when dogs are anxious and I will make them as comfortable as possible. The ways I calm a nervous dogs is usually by distracting with toys, treats, petting, sitting in the floor with them, turning on white noise to mask a storm or fireworks, running around and getting some energy out, or playing Animal Planet on tv. Can't wait to meet your fur babies!

Information Amy G. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors I need to keep in mind. Please let me know specific commands he or she knows. I like to keep your dog on your regular feeding schedule. If you are boarding at my house, bring your dog's food, favorite snacks, toys, leash for walking (and bedding if you want to bring your own). Also let me know if your dog is anxious about certain things, such as storms, and what you find helps them.
A typical day
We will play games, such as fetch and tug-of-war, if your dog likes these. I can also work on mentally stimulating activities such as following basic commands and practicing tricks. I can walk your dog around the neighborhood to smell all the mailboxes or lightly jog to get some exercise. If your dog stays with me, I have sidewalks in my neighborhood and safe, quiet streets. My backyard has plenty of room to run.

Availability
I can provide nearly constant supervision starting after 3:30 p.m. on Fridays to 6 p.m. on Sundays, and I have plenty of time to play with your pups. As a school teacher (21 years teaching), I am also free most every weekday after 3:30 p.m. for dog walks or drop in visits to let your dogs out and feed them if you need me. When your fur baby is with me, I make them feel comfortable like they are a member of my family. They will have lots of outside time early mornings and late afternoons, as weather allows. They will never be left outside alone in my fenced in backyard or in your backyard unless I am with them. Potty breaks are as needed or every two hours. I am usually home all weekend unless I have an errand to run, such as a grocery store run, but usually I am gone less than two hours. My older two sons are away at college, but my youngest son will pop in and say hi to the pups. He is a high school senior athlete who does part-time landscaping.
