Pampering Precious Pooches!
Pet care experience
My main professional experience caring for dogs comes from my high school years. My mother's boss needed someone to babysit her two children, two miniature pinchers and two cats during summer vacation. I took the dogs and kids on a nice long walk through the beautiful park near their home every day. I still get the warm fuzzies thinking about how happy those little dogs were trotting merrily down the trail, sniffing at things and getting to stretch their legs. I spent several years working at a real estate firm and during that time brokers would sometimes leave their dogs with me while they were out on appointments with clients. I always made sure the dogs were well fed, had plenty of cool clean water, and more belly scratches than you can shake a bone at. In my personal life, I have cared for two dogs and was very blessed to experience the daily joys of living with canines for about five years. I don't have a dog of my own currently, but I fully intend to have one in the future. I don't know that I have any "special" skills in particular, but if loving dogs is a skill then I'm all over that. I'd say my greatest strength in regards to caring for pets is my genuine desire to make them as healthy and happy as possible. I'm willing to go out of my way for my (and your) animals. I feel that it's the right thing to do. These furry little creatures are so innocent and precious, I feel compelled to protect, love and nurture them as much as I possibly can. They're depending on me and I'd never let them down. On a more practical level, I have some experience bathing/brushing dogs and trimming nails, as well as administering medication in pill form. I haven't ever given medication by injection, but if you want to show me exactly what to do I would be more than happy to take care of it for you. Any other special services you'd like you are free to ask about. I'll do it if I can. And if it's something unorthodox don't worry. I'm a quick learner. Just show me what you need me to do. I am willing to take on special needs dogs and dogs that are currently sick or injured and will need medications given, bandages changed and/or wound care. I can also take your dog to the vet for you, retrieve your dog after an appointment, or drop them off for you to pick up later. I am also willing to pick up medications.
Reviews
Amy has cared for both my children and my dogs multiple times. She came to my house reliably every morning for two summer vacations in a row, and took care of everybody until my husband or I returned from work in the evening. What I found most important about the service she provided was that she created an experience for my kids/dogs that was both fun and safe. I highly recommend her to others.
Amy has been entrusted with dog sitting in the past. It' s clear she is very affectionate with dogs, aware of their needs, and thoroughly enjoys her time with them.

Safety, trust & environment
My home is located at the end of a private drive out in Thurston county. If you have a dog that is extremely heat sensitive, my home would be a very safe place. We have central A/C and the house always stays at a comfortable 68 F during even the hottest summer days. My only pets currently are a hamster and a flock of chickens (all of which are securely housed), so if your dog doesn't do well with other dogs or just needs some extra love and attention I am able to provide that all-important one-on-one interaction and undivided attention.
Information Amy D. would like to know about your pet
Does the dog have any special needs? Does the dog need medicine at a certain time? What is a favorite toy or game that the dog enjoys? Is the dog human-friendly, dog-friendly and other pet-friendly? Does the dog have any allergies or other health considerations? Is the dog on a diet? What should I do to make the dog feel as safe and happy as possible? What would you like me to know about your dog? I am willing to work with any breed. Personally I prefer small dogs, but I love all dogs and just because I wouldn't want a large dog doesn't mean I won't provide the highest level of loving care to your pooch. (If small dogs didn't exist in the world I would rather have a large on than no dog at all).
A typical day
I have one and a quarter acres of beautiful land where there is ample space for your pooch run, jump and play his little heart out. There's no fence, but being at the end of a private drive with only two neighbors on the street keeps things quite safe. There's no traffic whizzing by or strangers coming around to upset your dog. In addition to my yard, there are also two walking trails (one long, one short) located in extremely easy walking distance from my house, so if your dog prefers a more structured walk experience I am happy to make those available. If your dog has a favorite toy I am more than happy to incorporate that into our care session. I love to play fetch, tug-of-war, Frisbee, or any other game that your pet enjoys. Lap dogs are a great love of mine, so if your pooch is a couch potato and enjoys nothing more than hunkering down in a warm lap with lots of pets and head scratches I'm your sitter. And rest assured, if your dog trusts me enough to fall asleep in my lap, I am one of those people who won't move a muscle for fear of waking the precious fluffer.

Availability
I work part time and am typically available between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I do like to be accommodating though, so if you have an emergency or something and need me outside of my regular hours I'm willing to help you if at all possible. I get my errands done on work nights so your pet can have my complete and undivided attention on my off days. I'm flexible as far as scheduling is concerned. No need to make a long term commitment. Just let me know when you want me and I'll be there. 5:00 pm is when my family gets home from work, so I like to be there to see them, but I am also a night owl, so if you need late night services for some reason let me know. I'll see what I can do.
