Flexible and friendly

Pet care experience

Hello! I currently work in animal rescue in kennels and catteries. I have trained with dogs at college in a kennel, grooming, boarding and training environment, as well as previously being a part time training assistant at a force free and positive reinforcement training school. I am kind and fair and can try to cater to any request, your pup and I are going to be best friends! I am reliable and trustworthy, and will try to work around you where possible. I am also confident with small animals, birds and reptiles and more than happy to pop in for them. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend!

Absolutely love it when Amelia looks after Penny, can completely relax while I'm away and know that she is in good hands! Penny adores it when she visits doing many roly polys! Thankyou so much again for looking after her, would give more stars if I could :)

Amelia visited my three dogs at the weekend and was brilliant. We did a meet and greet beforehand, she arrived on time and the boys really enjoyed her visit. She sent me a detailed report afterwards, picking up on their likes and little quirks, and got some fantastic photos of them which she sent to me. I’m really pleased and will definitively book again!

I have to say. You probably couldn't find a more conscientious and reliable walker. Amelia has been amazing throughout my whole Rover experience and has kept me updated with my pooches. Please guys if you need a pooch walker. Contact Amelia. Will 100% book with her again

Excellent!! Amelia was friendly and professional. My two cats engaged well with her, and her care and understanding of their needs was outstanding. I have total confidence in recommending her, and look forward to seeing her again. Caroline Dutton.

Safety, trust & environment

I know some cats/dogs like to bolt out of a door and so I am fully conscious of this when entering and leaving the home. I also understand that if there is any way for an animal to hurt themselves, they probably will - therefore I always tidy up after myself, don't leave things on the floor to trip over, and put things away that may need supervision when I am leaving. I am DBS checked and have done animal first aid courses. My lovely, lively cocker spaniel is very friendly with dogs and can be quite full on at first but will soon settle.

Information Amelia S. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know your boundaries with the dog at home and on the walk, so the dog does not get confused. Is the dog allowed off lead/on a long line - does it have a solid recall? Does the dog need to be muzzled for any reason? (e.g. dog reactive/people reactive/eats poop etc) Has the dog got any fears/things to avoid on a walk/at home? Any bad habits or rude manners and what are your management strategies? (e.g. Bolting, food aggression, jumping up) How many people in your household and who looks after the dog? Any medical conditions/required medicine/dietary requirements Where does your dog sleep and do you crate them at all? Is your dog friendly with other dogs/cats/children? Is the dog spayed/neutered? Who is the dogs vet and do you have the contact details? Is the dog allowed to have treats? Does the dog have any physical restrictions which means it has special requirements for exercise?

A typical day

Your pup and I can walk all over the place - the beach, the woods, open fields or just the park! My little Nora is a whirlwind but makes friends with everyone and is really polite with other dogs. Dogs young and old can be catered for, no matter if they are a slow poke or a bag of energy. I can make mealtimes fun and start teaching new tricks or any manners that you believe the dog is lacking. I have lots of enrichment including puzzle feeders and snuffle mats. Cuddles on the sofa are always allowed and playtime in the garden can be never ending. Unfortunately I am unable to care for dogs that howl/bark frequently due to my neighbours.

Availability

I dedicate my life to animal rescue but also to my little dog Nora. I am currently on maternity leave and my partner works shifts, therefore dogs are never left very long, if at all. Lunch can be catered for in the home, if the dog is on more than 2 meals a day.
