Mindful and Attuned Love for Pups!
Pet care experience
In my experience as a dog-parent and pet-sitter, I have seen respect and emotional attunement is the best way to elicit positive behavior. I have always had dogs, and over the past 4 years as a full time pet-care provider, I have worked with dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds as well as cats, birds, pigs, goats, and other small animals. My dog Oser was a huge fluffy rescue mutt who was incredibly smart, loving and funny. Over 12 years, we worked together to turn his anxious, destructive energy into an outlet for communication and a source of pride. He learned a huge vocabulary and repertoire of tricks, including "counting" and jumping hurdles. I also volunteered as a dog walker at the Central Missouri Humane Society throughout college. Dog walking reduces anxiety and cage neurosis and increases the dogs' chances of being adopted.

Amber was an outstanding doggy caregiver. My husband and I had to leave town unexpectedly to attend his father‘s funeral and we were concerned about finding someone we could trust entirely with our animals, one of whom is a fairly complicated and large grump. I cannot tell you how relieved we were over the course of our time away that Amber developed a healthy relationship with both of our animals, regularly sent us photographs of their well-being, fed and walked them consistently, and also left the house in wonderful shape. I am so grateful to have found her.
Amber was fantastic! Our dogs absolutely loved her so much! Even our older girl who doesn’t warm up to people very easily loved her. Amber communicated with us and sent the cutest pictures. She played games with them and they cried for her when she left. We will definitely use Amber again!

I do a through intake with each client to understand the rules for your pet. I will always make sure the environment is secure according to your guidance; i.e. putting your dog in his or her crate before leaving, locking the doors, setting alarms, securing the gate to the yard. I am careful whenever coming or going to make sure your pet does not get out, and I always am mindful of immediately putting away people food so there are no accidents. When dog walking, I am always paying attention so we can avoid distractions and hazards like unleashed dogs, cats, cars, or litter that your pup might try to scarf up. I keep the leash securely around my wrist and in my hand, and I use two hands as necessary, as well as authoritative and loving body language and verbal commands to keep your dog safe.

I like to know what your dogs' favorite activities are and what kind/how many treats they can have. I also need to know any problem behaviors or triggers they might have and any work-arounds you have found effective.
A typical day
I love walking dogs in neighborhoods and parks and have some leash-training experience. I am comfortable with all ages--puppies to seniors--as well as different breeds and sizes. I love doing trick training and scent training. Playing games of fetch or tug-of-war and good old fashioned tummy rubs are super fun too. I also am happy to brush dogs who are happy to be brushed! When pet-sitting, I am also comfortable caring for your other pets, such as cats, goats, birds and fish.
