Pet care experience
I am new to the DMV area and pretty new to Rover as well. I recently relocated here from Alaska and am excited to continue caring for animals in my new city. Your pet's health, happiness, and comfort are my top priority. I have over 20 years of experience taking care of the furry family members of my friends, family, and associates. In my experience, I have cared for senior pups, as well as young puppies. I love dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personality types. I pride myself on being patient, loving, and attentive to their needs. In addition to caring for many adult dogs and puppies, I have also taken care of cats, horses, birds, lizards, the occasional turtle, and fish. On top of caring for your pets, I am happy to water plants, bring in mail, and turn on sprinkler systems. I am also happy to send updates, including photos and videos, of your furry family members throughout your time away. I will ask you for a list of care instructions ahead of time so that I am fully prepared to meet your pet's individual needs. Whether it be more frequent potty breaks, administration of medications, time spent working on basic command training with younger puppies, or extra attention for pets dealing with separation anxiety when their loved ones are gone. I currently have a three-year-old American Bully named Bijou who goes with me on most of my pet-sitting stays. She loves dogs of all sizes, ages, male and female. Bijou is fully potty trained and is never left unattended. I can provide you with additional videos and photos of her interacting with many of her furry friends, as well as an initial meet and greet with your pet(s) ahead of time to give you peace of mind that she is well-behaved and extremely pet friendly.
Reviews
Amanda was wonderful. Very easy to work with for scheduling and she took great care of our pup. ?
Amanda is an excellent dog walker and dog trainer and a quality human being. Thank you so much for your services!
Amanda takes such amazing care of my dogs, cats, and house. Grateful to feel this kind of confidence leaving them all behind to enjoy a vacation without any worry that they'll be anything but spoiled!
To get to the punchline first, Amanda did a great job house and pet sting for us during our summer vacation. I knew it was going to be ok when our German Shepherd, who can be shy, demanded pets from her the second they met. During our trip, Amanda was super communicative, sending photos and videos regularly. From the videos, it was clear that our pets were fine and that she was good with them. It was also clear that Amanda goes the extra mile. For example, one of our dogs is a bit fearful and Amanda searched the internet for exercises to address this and worked on it with her a bit. She was equally good to us. Our flight home was late and she stayed to meet us even though I told her it was ok to just go home as we’d be home before the pets noticed. When we arrived, she helped us get our bags in at 2:30 am so we could get ti sleep faster. Our pets were well cared for and the house was left clean. Highly recommended.

I will consider boarding dogs in my home on a case-by-case basis. I have a large fenced yard and 3,000 square feet inside where they can hang out with Bijou and I. Dogs I board must be fully potty-trained. They must be spayed or neutered and up-to-date on shots. Most importantly, they must be dog-friendly.

Please provide me with a list of contact numbers, including an emergency contact, and the phone number for your vet. Please include any special instructions you might have, as well as a list of household tasks you would like done while you are away.
A typical day
Bijou and I enjoy taking three short walks a day, with a long walk in the evening once temperatures cool down. I would be happy to include your dog(s) on our walks as well, and for more high-energy dogs that require more handling during walks, I can kennel Bijou and give those dogs one-on-one walks if necessary. I like to include a lot of cuddling and play-time throughout the day, especially with dogs that have a hard time being away from their family members. I've done a lot of dog training throughout the years, and I am always happy to spend some time working on basic commands with puppies in my care.

Availability
I currently work from home as an independent contractor in the medical field. I have an extremely flexible schedule that allows me plenty of time to give potty breaks, walks, and cuddles. I am available for short-term or extended pet sitting in your home. I have several word-of-mouth clients I sit for off this site as well, so I do my best to keep my calendar updated with my current availability at all times.
