WFH grad student/pet caretaker

Pet care experience

I've had cats and dogs my whole life. I walked dogs professionally for a few years when I lived in Chicago and I used to work at a dog daycare where I was trained in behavior modification. At the daycare, I sometimes watched up to 15 dogs at a time for several hours. However, in my home, I only take one household at a time. Sometimes I will make an exception if I'm familiar with one or all pets, they have met without incident, and all parties are notified and have consented. I'm a graduate student attending school and working for my university remotely. If your pet stays with me, they will rarely be alone. I live in a four bedroom house with a fenced in backyard. I do not have roommates, pets, or children. Sometimes, I will visit my parents, who live in the city and with your consent, I will usually take whoever I'm sitting with me. In the summers, on weekend, we often go to my cabin in Lindstrom, near Taylor's Falls. Again, if you think your dog will do ok there, I might visit my cabin and take them with me. I can provide more details about that during a meet and greet.

This is our second time leaving Zuki with Amanda for a weeklong stretch. There was great communication, pics, and I was confident in her ability to provide care. I recommend!

Amanda was a good pet sitter for Maya. I felt that Maya was safe and well taken care of during the stay. She did have some tummy problems right after coming back home but I understand dogs are dogs and they get into things. My previous rover experiences have come with more frequent updates during the stay which I have gotten accustomed to. I know my dog takes some time to get comfortable with a new person and even thought it overall went okay, seemed like Maya had some initial reactions with would have been good to know when they occur. Amanda did a good job caring for Maya.

Amanda was great. She was communicative and straightforward and I felt totally comfortable while I was away knowing that my dog was well cared for.

Amanda was great with Moose! He can sometimes be nervous around new people, but it was clear that Amanda has lots of experience and made him feel comfortable! We were happy to leave Moose in very capable hands.

I do have a fence, but since I live on a busy street, I never let dogs out alone. I always supervise on potty breaks. Please let me know if your dog may be a flight risk and I will keep them on leash during potty breaks in the back yard. My home is dog proofed and I have two crates- one medium and one extra large- if your dog needs to be crated. I do request honesty about a history of destruction or eating plants. I rent my home and can't allow dogs who might destroy the house or furniture, or who have frequent accidents. I send a Google link where I will post pictures during their stay. You are welcome to reach out any time to see how they're doing and I will promptly respond. If you would like me to send daily updates, I'm happy to do so :) Just be sure to please request this when you drop them off. Otherwise, no news is good news and the photo link will serve as updates!

Information Amanda T. would like to know about your pet

It's good to know what your pets temperament is, what they eat and when; if they're potty trained or need to be crated, if they have allergies, how they get along with other animals, and what they're like on walks. I like to know if there is a history of destruction or potty accidents. Since I have plants, it would be good to know if your pet has the desire to go for plants. If they do, I can gate off the area of my house that has them. I ask that when we do a meet and greet, you allow your dog off leash in my home with minimal recall to see how they behave in a new environment. Incidents during a meet and greet such as marking furniture will not necessarily prevent me from accepting your pet, but I might ask you to book a trial day to see if the problem persists. It might also be wise to book a trial day with me if you plan to be gone for 5 or more days and/or you do not have a local emergency contact. This is to ensure that your pet and me are a good match so you can have a worry free trip. Please update your pet's profile with any important information or anything that is covered in the meet and greet. I meet lots of pet parents and it's best to have details in writing to refer to to optimize your pet's stay. If your pet has any medications coming with them, please add this to your profile along with any side effects or other information that would be important for me to know (are they chewables that could be attractive to your dog, do they need to be put in pb or pill pocket, how many pills are in each bottle). Please put all medications together in a seperate bag that can be taken out of their packed bag so I can store it safely away from treats.

Since I work from home, I will likely be with your pet for most, if not the entire day. I may leave to run errands or see friends, but if I'm headed to a dog friendly environment, I will take your dog with me, with your permission. I often go to my parents house in South Minneapolis, or in the summer- to my cabin in Lindstrom. Dogs are welcome at both places. ***PLEASE NOTE*** While I can provide your pet with full-time company and affection, I do walk other dogs in the neighborhood weekly, I'm a student in my internship, and I work an administrative job from home. Therefore, I only have the capacity to guarantee up to one 30 minute walk a day when boarding your dog. While I can promise frequent potty breaks in my backyard, I unfortunately cannot take dogs that require more than that and I do ask that you are honest with me about their needs so that they can get the attention they deserve! If my schedule and weather permits, it's possible they will get additional exercise.
