8yrs experience as Vet Tech - WFH

Pet care experience

Hello! I'm Amanda, and I'm 34 years old. I've not only raised and trained my own dogs for my entire life, but I've worked in the animal care industry for 11 years. I started as a kennel technician at pet resort which included all of the normal cleaning and routines, as well as choosing the right dogs to be in large, social play groups with each other. I've since been a groomer, a veterinary technician at an emergency hospital, and a vet tech at several general practice hospitals. Dog breeds, behavior and training were always so fascinating to me, and I've learned so much through my years working in the industry. Exercise is so important for our companions and it has always been my number one priority to exercise my own dogs before doing anything. I own my own photography business, working from home during the week. I own a two 7 year old Native American Village Dogs named Lupin and Lilly, a 4yr old small mixed breed named Pigwidgeon, a 2yr old savannah cat named Nimbus and a 12yr old quarter horse named Acheron. I believe that honesty is always the best policy, and aim to be as transparent and communicative with my pet parents as possible. I promise to treat your pets with the respect and love that they deserve.

Amanda continues to do an amazing job getting our nervous young rescue dog to trust her (and taking care of our sweet senior dog, too). I cannot recommend her enough!

Amanda has been great with our two shy hounds! Our 9 year-old dog has warmed up to her quickly, thanks to Amanda's patience and kindness - now he wants to walk with her forever without turning around! I cannot speak highly enough of the work Amanda has been doing to build trust with our new young dog (who came to us without much people socialization and is pretty anxious with new people). Amanda has been phenomenal at working with us to create a plan to build our new pup's confidence and people skills. I highly recommend Amanda to take care of your animal friends, especially if one (or both!) is anxious.

I love to spend as much time as I can with your pets, making sure their needs are all met and their safety is always top priority before I exit your home. I take my own dogs hiking on my property often, and ALWAYS take them on any trips we can - they truly love to camp and spend all their days outside. My motto is - a tired dog is a happy dog!

Information Amanda S. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences. There is so much information that is important to me, so here’s a sample of my top “need to knows” : I’ll need to know just how dog-friendly your dog is.. i.e.; does your dog tolerate other dogs, or does he thrive with other dogs to play with? Are they reactive to other dogs? Have they ever had an incident where they either bit another dog, or another dog bit them? Will they drag me across the road if they see another dog walking by? Does your dog have any history of separation anxiety or destructive behavior? If so - are they crated when you are not around? Do you have any high stimulation toys (frozen lick mats/kings/bowls etc) for them to have when you leave? Is your dog up to date on vaccines (ie; Distemper/Parvo, Rabies, Bordetella, Influenza, Lepto, Lyme): Are there any vaccines you opt-out of? Does your dog take flea/tick and heartworm prevention monthly? Who is your veterinarian in case of an emergency? Are there any behavioral tendencies like separation anxiety, toy aggression, food aggression, leash pulling, resource guarding, or any history of biting, or bolting? Any allergies, past injuries, recent surgeries, medications, history of seizures, diabetes, or any other major illnesses and injuries? And - Do you use any training tools like an e-collar or prong collar for walks?

A typical day

I'll often use the immediate area for your pets, hoping to maximize their time outdoors. I also like to find places where dogs can hike in the woods for a more stimulating adventure - but will only ever leave the property if an owner requests it.
