We will walk, run, or hike!

Pet care experience

My best day is spent exploring the great outdoors with dogs. Last year I fostered a Mountain Cur-Lab mix named Bowie for almost a year. Bowie and I became quick friends because of the amount of time we spent taking long walks, going on morning runs, and hiking along nearby trails. Although he had unique personality traits like loving to tear shoes and running far away to chase squirrels, I learned that by encouraging his strengths, we were able to minimize the obstacles we faced. When watching your dog, I can promise attentive care, frequent exercise, and lots of belly rubs. I am new to the Citrus Heights/ Sacramento area and am eager to explore everything it has to offer-- what better way to do that than with a pup by your side!

I have used Rover twice before and had a very positive experience and I’m sorry to say that Amanda was extremely unprofessional and did not complete her stay according to the booking she agreed upon. I had clearly stated in my requests to sitters, thst I needed a sitter at my house who could stay with my puppy for a majority of the day and night. I specified that I didn’t want him left alone for long hours. A few sitters responded by saying they worked 6-7 hours a day so that wouldn’t work for them. Amanda said she worked as a nanny for 3 hours a day on two out of the four days I needed her, and because of thanksgiving, may not even have to work those 2 days. When she came for the Meet and Greet, I explained that I had security cameras outside the perimeter of our home so that there would be no surprises for her. After I left town, I found out Amanda was gone for 4 hours and then again for 5 hours - during the first day of her stay. I messaged her and asked her to not leave my puppy for that long. She said she had a nanny emergency that morning, but never explained why she was gone for 5 hours again. The same evening, her boyfriend showed up at 9 pm. I again messaged her and told her I was not okay with her boyfriend being in my house - we had not had any discussion about that nor had I met him ever before, nor had she taken any consent from me to have visitors. A few minutes after that Rover contacted me telling me that Amanda would not be completing her stay with my puppy and they offered to find someone else. She did agree to look after him that night and leave the next morning. I had to scramble around late at night trying to find alternate arrangements for my pup. Needless to say that was a huge stress for me. Amanda seemed like a nice person, but showed that she could not be reliable or professional.

Amanda was always a great help with my pup. As a rescue Kato was a shy dog, some would call anti social. Amanda was always able to get him excited for long walks and bring out the playful loving nature he shared with those he was comfortable with. She will be kind and patient as she was with my snugginzy hugginzy good boy!

Amanda is truly the kindest and most gentle person I have ever met. She is so calm and sweet that my shy, nervous dog warmed up to her faster than she normally does with other people. Amanda loves and cares for every single soul she comes into contact with, I would never think twice about trusting her care to for my pets while I was away.
