Pet care experience
Welcome! My name is Amanda and I own and operate Classical Canine (@classicalcanine), a positive reinforcement-based canine enrichment and training business that specializes in working with reactive and nervous dogs. I am privately bonded and insured by ProFur, Pet First Aid and CPR Certified, and a member of the Pets Professional Guild. I have graduated from Aggressive Dog's Aggression in Dogs Mastercourse and am committed to ongoing professional development. Comfortable with pets of all ages, sizes and temperaments, I have experience handling reactivity, special needs, doggy wheelchairs, senior pets, medication administration, and aiding young puppies in training. I practice calm and confident handling with positive reinforcement (reward-based training) and am constantly learning about canine body language, psychology, force-free handling, and training methods to be the best at what we do. I adore play time, talking with and giving love, respect, agency and enrichment to your companion animals. Originally from London, Ontario, I recently moved to Kingston, Ontario and while my focus is on training services, I will be taking on a very small number of dog walking clients there. Private walks only. Follow Classical Canine on Instagram and Facebook! 🐾 @classical.canine and check out my talk on "Musicality in Dog Training" with the hosts of the "I Let the Dogs Out" Podcast on iTunes, Spotify and wherever you find your podcasts.

Amazing! Amanda and Justin took such great care of our puppy - they were very attentive and caring, and went above and beyond taking care of Cookie! They also provided regular updates with pictures :) Thank you!!
Amanda is very responsible, very reliable, trustworthy, and above all, loves your pets immensely! I would recommend her to anyone who wishes their fur baby and their property are well looked after. Sincerely, Shelley
Amanda and Justin always make my dog Axl so happy with daycare. Axl pays them in kisses and they love it! Seeing the pics always make me smile and I can see she’s having a blast!
Amanda was terrific while taking care of my dog Coco! I routinely received updates and photos of Coco playing with tons of new toys and dog puzzles, and they were always outside despite the snow! Coco was whining by the door waiting for Amanda to come back once she dropped her off. Will be using again without question - thank you Amanda!!!

Although services in my home are not available at this time, dog walking and in-home day training services in your home are available on a limited basis.
Information Amanda P. would like to know about your pet
How does your dog get along with other dogs of varying sizes? Are they good with cats and children? Are they current on their vaccinations? Where is your dog comfortable when left alone and at night? Do they have food allergies or medical needs? After booking, I will ask that you provide detailed information about your dog's habits, routines, frequency of potty breaks, favourite toys, special needs, etc. so we can make their time with me as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. *For boarding, in order to accommodate a family member who adores animals and is recovering from a concussion at this time, we have a strong preference for pups who infrequently bark or whine. For reactive and "chatty" pups, please consider our mobile services (ie: drop-ins, house sitting and dog walks)! If you aren’t sure which overnight services would best suit your pup - reach out and ask! We are always happy to help.*
A typical day
The foremost priority in my dog walking services is to make sure that the dogs' needs are being met and that the dog feels safe. Meeting their needs means allowing them to make choices, engage in species-specific behaviors (digging, chewing, socializing, shredding, licking, sniffing, scavenging) through appropriate outlets, which I often facilitate. I use positive-reinforcement based training techniques to help change dogs' feelings towards anything they find stressful, reinforce desirable behaviors, and provide mental stimulation and physical activity often through pattern games. I often drive reactive dogs to open fields and parks where they can decompress by walking on one of my longlines and a harness.
