Lifelong dog enthusiast!
Pet care experience
I teach at Mount Holyoke College and have somewhat flexible hours which I'd like to spend meeting your dog! I spent last summer volunteering at a dog shelter/veterinary clinic in Mexico where lots of the dogs have histories of abuse/abandonment and learned a lot about canine cognition and behavior. I've worked with a wide range of breeds and have experience rehabilitating dogs with behavioral problems (two of my rescues were frightful and aggressive and with patience, training, and lots of love, they are now the sweetest animals!). I plan to pursue a future involving canine cognition and love meeting new dogs with a variety of personalities. I am available for petsitting and in addition to company, I can also use my past experience to offer training and behavioral modification to your pups!
Reviews
My pup’s cute but he’s trouble. Amanda was great with him. I appreciate her understanding of reactive dogs.
As soon as I met Amanda I knew she was a perfect fit for my dog Torie. Torie can be a bit shy, and has a few issues as she is a Dixie dog rescue from Texas. Torie took right away to her gentle personality and we never looked back. I highly recommend Amanda, as she went over and above to make sure everything at my house was safe and both my pets were safely looked after while I was away for a week. She even averted a would be catastrophe with a water leakage outside my home. I will most definitely use her again, Torie insists! Very Sincerely, Christine Kane South Hadley, Ma.
Amanda, was great with our dog while we were away. We were comfortable with her the minute we met her, and new that our Stella would be in great hands. Her visits with Stella put our mind at ease and she did a great job at keeping us updated. Her love for animals is apparent and our Stella loved every minute of Amanda’s attention. I highly recommend Amanda and will use her again in the future.
I was very, very pleased with Amanda as my dog/ cat sitter and all around girl Friday when I was at the Cape for my son's wedding this past week. I had never had a dog sitter before, yet felt very comfortable and confident in her abilities after meeting her just once. My dog, Torie is a rescue with some issues and she seemed to take to Amanda right away, which helped me to relax and know I found just the right person for her care. I would recommend Amanda very highly to anyone who needs this type of service. Yours gratefully, Chris Kane So. Hadley, Ma.

When it comes to dogs, I don't discriminate!
A typical day
I am happy to go on walks around the neighborhood or take your furbaby to a dog park if he/she gets along with other dogs. I also know lots of fun games to engage dogs' innate curiosity and intelligence. One of my favorites involves hiding treats and giving the dogs facial cues to help find the hidden treats (dogs actually outperform chimps on this task)!
