I recently returned home from traveling the world for a year. It was an incredible experience and I learned so much from my journey. Throughout my trip I was exposed to so many animals, and dogs in particular. I played with countless stray dogs, and even rescued and found a home for some teeny tiny sick kittens! One of my favorite experiences while traveling was staying and working at an animal shelter in Sri Lanka. There were over 160 dogs there, and I got to play with the dogs, take them on walks, and try to manage the craziness of having so many dogs in one place! I loved getting to know the dogs individually and seeing how our relationship would grow over time. Before I left on my travels, I was a foster parent for about 6 different puppies at different times! I really enjoyed the process of trying to form good habits for these tiny pups, and to see their personalities develop and grow. Sometimes the pups were so cute that we were constantly bombarded with attention, which posed some difficulties on our walks :P I love the uninhibited joy that dogs have when they are exploring on a walk. I also love walking around, since that was the main way I explored while traveling! Having been around dogs my whole life and fostering puppies, I know how the much needed walks provide joy and a release of energy for pups, and also allows dog owners to feel less stress if they don’t have the time themselves.
