Pet care experience

Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by. I am a full time professional private pet caregiver, small business owner, licensed, insured and bonded. My husband and I operate our pet care business together while raising a wonderful 6th grader. This is not a commercial kennel, I petsit privately in my own home where your furry family member has the same luxury to roam, play, and lounge throughout my house just like my pets would. I have taken care of domestic pets and farm animals of all kinds since I was 9 years old. I have experience with animal (adult & baby) first aid, choking, and CPR; as well as labor & delivery and accident/surgery recovery. I am experienced in medication administration and wound care. In addition, I have 15+ years experience of obedience training, puppy training, and breaking bad behaviors. I frequently work with pets with special needs, senior pets, and pets with anxiety/behavioral needs (pet disclosures are required prior to booking, failure to properly disclose may result in service cancellation or additional fees.) Furry Friends are not discouraged from their natural instinctive behaviors, but some unwanted behavior may be interrupted and redirected. We use our manners in my home and discourage unwanted behavior such as mounting, humping, jumping on people or other furry friends, and treat stealing for example. We do not tolerate unprovoked aggression, ignoring a pup’s cues during play time, or incessant mounting. Every pet I care for is treated like my very own with every bit as much love, patience, compassion, and kindness. (Please scroll to the bottom for additional price details.) Meet & Greets are mandatory.

Amanda was amazing with our 2 kittens! First time using a sitter and she made the process so easy and made us feel comfortable with everything! She sent us several pictures and we knew our babies were in the best of care and very well taken care of and loved! I would definitely recommend Amanda! Thanks again for everything!

Very thorough onboarding. Felt completely comfortable leaving my dog with Amanda and her husband. She sent updates and pics a couple of times while I was gone. Dinger came home happy and tired from all the play time he isn't used to! ? Highly recommend!

Walks: I utilize research-based best practices and safe leash-walking techniques to discourage pulling and lunging and reward good behavior with lots of affection and head scratches. (Treats available with pet parent permission.) Leash training is important and encouraged. I am experienced in prong collars, pinch collars, martingale collars, harnesses, and e-collars. In addition, I do asphalt/side walk checks to ensure paw pads won’t get burned, monitor breathing/panting to avoid overheating, and if we get caught out in the rain I will provide a quick towel dry as permitted. Walks are not conducted during thunderstorms/severe weather, below freezing temperatures, or scorching heat waves. Dog parks are not frequented due to safety concerns. Visits typically last up to 30 minutes, a 60 minute upgrade is available at an additional charge. Walks scheduled before 8AM are subject to availability. No walks are scheduled after 9PM. Pet Care @ Your Home: You have peace of mind knowing your pet and your home will be cared for during every drop-in visit. These visits are popular for puppies, cats of all ages, senior pets, pets with medical needs, and pets with special needs as these visits account for more hands-on care than say a 30-minute walk. Drop-in visits and Cat Care services consist of feedings, cleaning of food & water bowls, cleaning & sanitizing food/water areas, litter box scooping, disinfecting litter box area, cleaning any pet accidents, administering medication, watering plants, bringing in mail/packages, taking out the trash, caring for additional critters in the home (don't forget about the goldfish!), and handling any special requests. Visits typically last up to 30 minutes, a 60 minute upgrade is available. Visits before 8AM are subject to availability. Visits are not scheduled past 9PM. Please note, due to insurance liabilities ALL animals in the home must be accounted for and are priced at an additional critter care fee of $10 per critter, per day. This includes small mammals, reptiles, birds, spiders, fish, and so forth. Boarding/doggy daycare: All pets under my care have access to the first level of my home, rooms are sectioned off with gates for safety and security to prevent accidents, incidents, and to deter escape artists. Pets are permitted upstairs, in the bedrooms, with supervision. Pets are fed on schedule and separated from one another during feeding times to prevent food aggression/resource guarding. Treats are given separately as well. Food bowls are washed daily. Multiple water bowls are accessible 24/7 and refilled regularly. All pets have free reign of my fenced in backyard. Security cameras have been installed throughout to check in on pets during the night without disturbing their sleep, and to capture any incidents should one occur. Pups are walked on a leash when outside of my home, some pups are walked separately to accommodate energy level or personality type. Introductions of pets are conducted one pet at time using research based best practices. Crates are used at night for health, safety, and sanitation. We will have frequent cuddle sessions on the couch, hide and seek played with treats, walks around the neighborhood, and unlimited belly rubs. We have throw blankets for making nests, a half dozen baskets full of toys, and more pet beds than we know what to do with. We request only bring the following for your pets: food, medication(s), vitamin(s), supplement(s), collar (prong, pinch, martingale, etc), or harness. Please do not bring beds, food bowls, water bowls, toys, chews, plushies, etc. When boarding or attending doggy daycare, there is added peace of mind that a veterinarian office is less than 2 minutes from my home in the event of an emergency. For boarding 5+ days a complimentary bath is available upon parent request during time of booking. Solo/private boarding must be requested at time of booking, requests made after confirmation are not guaranteed. This exclusive private boarding option is charged at a premium. Please note: boarding for unaltered pets is applicable to ONLY pets too young to undergo surgery and is considered on a case-by-case basis. No females in heat, no exceptions. No adult unaltered males, no exceptions. THERE ARE NO DROP-OFFS OR PICK UPS BEFORE 8AM OR AFTER 9PM MON-SAT, OR ON SUNDAYS per City of Canton ordinances.

Information Amanda H. would like to know about your pet

It is imperative to disclose special needs or medical conditions I should be regularly monitoring, and please advise of all medications/times prior to booking. Rates are subject to change to account for medical/special needs. To ensure proper accommodations and everyone’s safety, the following personality traits/behavioral needs must be disclosed: Has the pet ever snapped at or or bit the owner? Has the pet ever snapped at or bit another animal? Is the pet: food aggressive, toy aggressive? Territorial? Difficult to walk on a leash? An escape artist? Does the pet: resource guard? Bark throughout the day/night? Does the pet have: known insecurities or anxiety and fears of any kind (general anxiety, fear of strangers, fear of loud noises, fear of pants, or separation anxiety just to name a few)? It is also important to disclose if the pet has not been properly socialized, trained to walk on a leash, does not handle new places/people/smells/unfamiliar objects well, should avoid neighborhood walks, should avoid smaller dogs/animals, should avoid larger dogs/animals, should avoid dog parks, has trust issues. Answers to any of the above do not immediately disqualify the pet from care services, the answers are necessary to ensure my and my family's safety, and the safety of the other pets within my care. Additional accommodations will be assessed as needed. PLEASE KINDLY TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING: Boarding and doggy daycare drop off times are by appointment only. Appointments are 30-minutes. Tardiness requires advanced notice for the safety of other pets and pet parents who may be on location. Tardiness may result in waiting for the next available drop off/pick up time slot. Extended time frames for drop off-pick up will be considered upon request but are limited, accommodations for extensions are subject to change. Additional charges may apply. THERE ARE NO DROP-OFFS OR PICK UPS BEFORE 8AM OR AFTER 9PM MON-SAT, OR ON SUNDAYS per City of Canton ordinances. Cancellations are conducted via Rover and subject to Rover's cancellation policy. Failure to disclosure vital information about pet may result in cancellation and additional charges. Rates subject to change based on Medical Care or Special needs as required.

A typical day

Current routine includes a morning walk around the hills of our neighborhood to stretch our legs after breakfast, 20 minute play session late morning after breakfast is well settled, chill time after lunch to catch the perfect afternoon nap, afternoon walk to put the pep back in our step following the post lunch siesta, a second play session to bond and get out any extra energy, followed by a car ride as time allows. In the summer time an XL kiddie pool is set up to keep everyone cool. For play time we like tug of war toys, bouncy balls galore, and I also have several treat “puzzles” to promote mental stimulation which are always a hit with canine companions. Car rides are an absolute favorite past time - pup-a-ccino subject to pet parent permission.

My schedule is open and flexible allowing me to accommodate most every pet need from potty breaks every 2-3 hours to ensuring time left alone is kept to a strict minimum for managing separation anxiety. My husband manages the day-to-day administrative tasks which allows him to assist with in-home pet care as my back-up should the need ever arise. (One of the many reasons we have quickly become the go-to pet care providers for so many amazing families!) As well, my flexibility also allows me to assist with house breaking, crate training, and reinforcing confidence that separation is not permanent. Please inquire about training opportunities during your booking.
