Pet care experience
I grew up running and hanging out with sled-dogs in Vermont and have always loved dogs and their unique, amazing way of interacting with the world. When I was about 13, Logan (Alaskan husky) and I were registered as a therapy dog team and that experience solidified my respect for pups. Your canine will be hanging out with someone who knows how to have a good time (Ball, anyone? Woodland walk? Belly scratches?) but also will be reading your dog's body language in situations that may be uncomfortable for him/her, will make sure nothing harmful becomes a snack, and generally watch out for him like he's my own.
Reviews
Amadea was great! She took great care of our cat, dog and garden. She handled an unexpected medical issue with efficiency and a lot of clear communication. We hope she can take care of our pets in the future and highly recommend her!
Amadea took great care of our dog while we were out of town last week. Both our dog and our house were in great shape upon our return. Amadea promptly responded to our texts and was very helpful in asking Rover.com to correct an accidental double charge for her services (which was a fluke with Rover, and not any fault of Amadea's). We will definitely book her again for housesitting and/or dog walking in the future!
Responsible, our dogs loved Amadea's attention. Thank you!
Amadea did amazing with Tucker, who can be very anxious. she shared some great pictures of them going on adventures and was very enthusiastic about taking care of him! He loved her! We would definitely ask Amadea to walk/sit for us again.

Information Amadea C. would like to know about your pet
What do YOU feel is important for me to know before hanging out with your dog? How does s/he like meeting other dogs? Is it OK to be off-lead in a dog park? Any food allergies? (There may be treats...) Unusual commands or training-in-progress I can help teach? (Have you been working on 'heel' or do you have a special word for 'drop it'?) I do have a vehicle and have been known to take dogs to nearby parks if the option within walking distance isn't ideal, and if the novelty of all-new smells would be appreciated-- is you dog OK in the car and are you comfortable with the occasional ride? All dogs are awesome in my book, but I definitely have a soft spot for huskies and German Shepherds, and big breeds in general.
A typical day
So much of Portland is so walkable, and while some walks may consist of exploring the smells of the neighborhood, I prefer to head to a nearby park and track some squirrels! Often some time in the woods is just what the vet ordered. Mt Tabor Park, Council Crest and Washington Park are favorites, but I'm always finding different "green space" to check out in Portland. I enjoy an invigorating hike or jog with more energetic pups. It definitely helps if there's a good place to throw a ball! I'm more than happy to send you a picture update every time I take your pooch for a stroll. You can have fun with us vicariously!
