Registered Veterinary Nurse
Pet care experience
Hey there! My name is Alyster and I'm a Licensed Veterinary Technician (aka Registered Veterinary Nurse). For those who may not be familiar with my career, a Vet Tech/Nurse is a medical professional that closely resembles a Nurse Practitioner. However, we like to work with the furry, feathered, and scaly species! This means I have a degree in applied science, passed the National Veterinary Technician Exam, and took an oath to solemnly dedicate myself to aid animals and society. I've been working in the veterinary field for over 12 years and would love to expand my care and services to your pets! Because of my experience, I'm fortunate enough to offer a wide range of services to all types of animals (including bird and exotics). Working at a general veterinary hospital is where it all began. However, I've also worked in emergency medicine where I received my animal CPR certification. Interning at a few zoos is where I gained endless amount of experience with wild life, exotics, horses, and cattle. Finally, I've volunteered thousands of hours at local shelters and vaccine clinics to enhance my caregiving and nursing skills. I'm originally from Virginia, but recently relocated to Philadelphia to pursue a specialty in animal behavior and training! Now that I've settled into the city I'm very excited to be back on Rover and will be sure to take exceptional care of your beloved pets! I'll always maintain your regular feeding, medication, and walking schedules to ensure a comfortable happy and health animal! Treating all animal like your own is not only expected, but mandatory. And I swear to do that as my reputation and morals are very important to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my profile! I hope my 12 years of medical experience, knowledge, and caring nature has allowed you to feel comfortable about leaving your pets in my care. Please Note: I'm legally unable to provide medical diagnosis. However, I'd love to offer my professional opinion, recommendations, and references for any questions. (Bath and Grooming Rate includes: shampoo and conditioning, nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expressions. I also offer each service individually at an adjusted rate)
Reviews
Alyster is the absolute BEST!! He arrived exactly when we asked, kept us in the loop on everything, took amazing pictures, and just gave us so much piece of mind while we were away. When the app had an issue with attaching photos to the rover card, he sent them to us individually. He genuinely cares and we are so grateful to him.
Alyster did another amazing job watching Bruno. Alyster is the absolute best!
Alyster is a thoughtful, attentive pet sitter. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my pup!
Alyster is kind, knowledgeable af, communicative, responsive -- couldn't be more perfect. Our dear pup wears her heart on her sleeve, so I could tell from the photos Alyster sent while we were away that she was enamored with him. All the tails will surely wag for Alyster!

A typical day
I currently work relief at a local veterinary hospital. My schedule averages about 5 hours per week, so I'll still have plenty of time to give your babies all the attention they need! While I'm not at work I'm working on becoming a certified animal trainer and specializing in behavioral medicine to become a Licensed Veterinary Behavioral Nurse to help pets and pet parents with behavior modification and strengthen the human animal bond. I'm still learning the city, but have access to a couple dog parks and trails. But will maintain your regular schedule and route if that works best!
