Finding a dog sitter was a challenge. As with most pet owners, our dog is our child (highly indulged... maybe a bit spoiled). We are over the top protective and you could even say a bit nutty when it comes to our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Gilligan. She has a very regimented schedule, walks three times a day plus "tinkle breaks" throughout the day. She gets up early for breakfast and eats at exactly 5:00 PM every day. She is also an old girl with nerve damage in her back and takes medicine twice a day. But she's a Chessie so nothing keeps her down. Needless to say, trying to find the perfect dog sitter for our special girl was difficult. We were new to Alaska and really didn't know anyone. Then we found Alyssa! What a gift. She was working at the VCA Animal Hospital and I just happened to ask her if she knew anyone that dog and house sat. She gave me her number and that was that. When Alyssa met Gilligan it was love at first sight. If you know Chessies they can be extremely aloof and down right rude. Gilligan took to Alyssa immediately and vice versa. Alyssa was the ONE! Her love for Gilligan and really all animals runs deep. She is a DOG person. Over the past 6 years, she has not only been our dog/house sitter, but she has become and is family. There are only a handful of people that I would let watch my girl (honestly I can name them on one hand) and Alyssa is one of them. She is not only amazing with dogs, she is honest, responsible, sweet, kind, big-hearted, and well did I say AMAZING! I just can not say enough about how lucky we were to find Alyssa and how grateful we are for her love and care of our Gilligan girl. I highly recommend Alyssa and know that once you have her watch your fur baby, she will be your number go to dog sitter.
