Pet care experience
Hello! I am an experienced dog owner of a 12-year old Spaniel/Aussie mix named Bevo and an 8-year old English Mastiff named Willow. I lost my two dogs that I adopted in college a couple of years ago- a black lab mix named Stella and a pit bull/dogo Argentino named Luna. I’ve fostered multiple dogs for a rescue, bottle fed several orphaned litters of puppies and kittens and volunteered at the Fort Worth animal shelter. I love tiny dogs all the way up to giant dogs. Additionally, my experience with shelter dogs, including bully breeds, working breeds and fearful/reactive dogs gives me the necessary skills to work with dogs and cats who may have some challenging behaviors. I will make drop-in visits at homes with multiple animals and walk up to 4 dogs at one time.

Safety, trust & environment
I will make sure your pet has plenty of clean water (and food if you wish), is in good health just the way you left them and goes potty. I will always read your pets’ body language and cues to make sure they feel safe. Walks will be catered to your pets’ needs. Protecting their paws from hot concrete, preventing heat stress, helping reactive dogs stay calm and focused on our walks, etc. are all top priority. I will always communicate any questions or concerns about your pets right away.

Information Alyssa S. would like to know about your pet
I love any and all dog breeds and cat temperaments! If your dog is fearful of new people or other dogs, or has acted aggressively towards people or dogs before, please let me know up front. Additionally, if your dog has ever displayed food/toy aggression or leash/fence reactivity that is important for me to know as well. I am happy to continue appropriate training or corrections that you have started.
A typical day
We will walk at a nearby park or just around the neighborhood. As an experienced runner, I will happily run/jog with high energy and athletic dogs (weather permitting). For repeat clients, we may walk or drive to a local enclosed park. Home visits will include a potty break in your yard or on a quick leashed walk, fresh water, treats if permitted and lots of love. Fetch, tug-of-war, basic behavioral training and lots of belly and behind-the-ear scratches will be included as time permits.

Availability
I work from home running my own business but am very active and like to get outside, or at least out of my house, as often as I can. My older dogs can only take so many walks and play breaks before they just want to nap, so I have plenty of time throughout the day to get a few good walks in, a play break or simply check on your pets! My goal is to give myself an energy outlet and some breaks from my work throughout the day while also helping local pet parents care for their pets!
