Pet care experience
My experience with caring for dogs began when I was a kid when I got a dog of my own. I trained her, cared for her, and, of course, loved her! Outside of taking care of my dog, I also have professional experience caring for dogs. Since 2018, I’ve had experience with dog sitting and dog walking. I’ve provided care for several neighbors’ and other personal clients’ dogs with responsibilities such as walking, feeding, and administrating forms of enrichment. I have been a volunteer dog walker at the Denver Dumb Friends’ League since summer 2020 where I have walked and handled many different breeds, dogs of all ages, and dogs with an array of temperaments. As far as employment experience with dogs, I worked at a dog day care from May 2021 to March 2022 where I gained further experience handling dogs of all sizes as well as worked to maintain a safe and fun environment for the dogs. Additionally, I have experience with senior dog care since I cared for my own senior dog who had some health concerns that required involved care.

When taking care of dogs or other pets in my clients’ homes, I will establish a safe environment by making sure all doors, gates, and other ways leading outside are closed to avoid any potential escapes. I will also make sure to clearly understand any of the dog’s health or well-being concerns before the animal is under my care.

Aside from knowing what activities clients’ dogs enjoy, it’s also important for me to know if the dog has any health concerns, if I will need to administer any medication or food to the dog when they are under my care, if they have issues with mobility, if they are dog and/or people reactive while on leash, and if they tend to pull while on the leash. Knowing all of these things will ensure that both clients’ dogs and myself are as safe as possible.
A typical day
Before watching clients’ dogs, I would love to know what some of the dog’s favorite things to do are such as if they like to play fetch or do tricks or any other activity. It’s important for me to engage in activities with the dogs that they most enjoy to ensure their happiness during their time with me. I would also familiarize myself with the area the dog lives in to make sure I am aware of the best routes to take if walking the dog or any nearby parks we could visit.

Availability
For my availability, I am available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after 1 pm and Fridays after 3 pm. I have open availability on weekends as well.
