dog groomer with vet experience

Pet care experience

I have had a unique connection with animals since I was a child. I’ve found that they are a major coping mechanism for my anxiety/depression and don’t know what Id do without them. And I know many other pet parents feel the same way. I worked at Petsmart and Petco as a certified bather/groomer! I offer these services at any time, so please reach out if you can’t get an appointment elsewhere. I have experience in pet boarding, have volunteered with the Humane Society’s Cat Adoptions, and experience with administering meds of many types, to many species. I also worked as a vet assistant for 2 years. My goal is to one day run a rescue and work at the GA Aquarium as a vet. Nothing makes me happier than the rewards given with having a passion for what I love. And not just the financial. That sweet unconditional love, and smile and lick on the cheek.

Alycia has an amazing love and connection to animals of all kinds. She received her first dog at age 5 years and has provided loving care for many years. She not only loves dogs and cats but has cared for other pets of her own including hamsters, a bird, rat and guinea pig. She frequented pet stores as she was growing up and would have owned more animals if she had a place to put them. Her kindness and compassion is obvious and her sweet spirit is calming to animals that others have thought were hyper, timid or challenging. She has always expressed the desire to work with animals and is currently employed at a local pet store while she contemplates a career in caring for animals.

Safety, trust & environment

I start by making a correct list of the entire routine. When I have free time I play with them and cuddle them. I really think it’s important to create a friendly bond between me and the pet to relieve some of the separation anxiety a dog could experience.

Information Alycia F. would like to know about your pet

I don’t require documented paperwork but would feel comfortable knowing the animal has had its rabies vaccine, which I can verify with the tag. Safety comes first for me for the well being of not only myself but your furbaby. Please inform me of any behavioral triggers, actions that make them nervous, shyness of certain parts of their body being touched (or completely off limits to the touch) as that is something i’m used to and conscious of. If your pet takes meds, not an issue! Persistence and patience is key and that’s one of my best qualities. I’ve administered to cats and dogs of all age groups, and administered insulin to my first dog who suffered with Diabetes. Explain their daily routine and their personality to me! I want to make sure they’re content and calm at all times. Do they like cuddles? Do they like to go out on a porch or patio? Do they do something against your rules when you’re gone that they think they can get away with since I’m watching them? Do they have a favorite toy? Favorite treat or trail to walk? Dog sitters and the bond with their pet client is priority!

A typical day

Depending on the size of the dog I will definitely be trained in knowing how much is too much strain for walk and play. I would adjust my route according to breed/health issues but provide a quality walk. Larger breeds I will gladly run with them! I will happily take your pet to the nearest park if you don’t have a residential neighborhood!
