Pet care experience
After over 10 years working in the sheltering, veterinary, and pet care fields, I'm bringing my love for all animals and extensive, diverse experience caring for them directly to the people. I have tons of experience with rescued, fearful, and challenging pets, and have a special soft spot for three-legged dogs and senior pets. I ALWAYS carry my own custom first aid kit for people and pets and I make your pet's safety and security my top priority. With years working in Chicago's busiest shelters, I may have met your pet before you did! I have worked in veterinary hospitals and low cost spay/neuter clinics, doggy day care, groomers, doing pet hospice care, and spent just short of seven years working in Chicago's largest, busiest animal shelter. I'm preparing to move out of state to care for a sick parent and am seeking to make some extra income while packing up our apartment. I'm also pretty good with houseplants and gardens.

Althea was an outstanding dog walker. She was responsible for taking care of my newly neutered pup while he was out of day care for 2 weeks. In the middle of her term my pup came down with a intestinal bacteria sickness. Althea extremely knowledgeable with regards to any regiment that was necessary for recovery. It really calmed my nerves knowing that I had someone that was knowledgeable and communicative taking care of my pup. I’m sure he will miss her!
Althea was great! Our puppy can be a handful but Althea was professional and followed all of our instructions. We really appreciate the help!

A typical day
Adventuresome nature walks are my favorite. We may head for the park or one of Chicago's boulevards. Indoors, we might play hide and seek, work on sit-stay practice, or even play "what's that smell?" For cats, slow blinks are always first on the agenda. Fishy pole or laser pointer games are also an option.
