Hi there, my name is Althea and I’m so excited you’re considering me to care for your family members! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Like most people I absolutely love dogs of all kinds. There’s something special about that connection we have with them, and it has lead me to a career as a dog trainer and canine professional. For over six years, I having been working in various pet care positions, including doggie daycare, dog walking, and pet sitting, getting daily experience with so many different types of dogs from all ages, sizes, and personalities. Two years ago I graduated from CATCH Trainers Academy with my Certification in Dog Training Knowledge. My experience here has taught me so much more about how our dogs think and act, which has lead me to have a different approach when it comes to pet care. While I have a lot of experience with dogs, that doesn’t exclude my love for other pets! I have my own cat named Camilla, and have had lots of small animals growing up.

I have watched Althea's passion for animals grow for the past few years, and it is clear to me that she truly knows how to work with any animal. Althea loves spending time with dogs, whether it be general interaction, discipline, training, or play time. If you want a dog sitter that can help reinforce good manners, train for tricks, and even teach you as the owner a thing or two, you've found the right person. And on top of it all, she is an amazing person to work with, clear communicator and personally responsible!

Safety is my #1 priority when caring for your pet! Pets will never be left unsupervised. With dogs, they will always be supervised inside and outside of the home. When outside of the home, they will either be leashed or within a fenced in area (ecollars and electric fences are an exception). With cats, it depends on your preferences. Indoor only cats will stay indoors, and cats that are allowed outside access without supervision will be allowed that. If you have an indoor cat that has a catio, or is leash trained I will happily give your cat supervised outdoor time. Small animals will never be left unsupervised outside of their enclosure, unless there are circumstances in which you allow that.

I am willing to work with every breed, however Important behaviors such as stranger danger, reactivity, or resource guarding are very helpful to know beforehand. While I will still work with behaviors like these, special precautions do need to be considered when caring for your pet. Unfortunately at this time I will not work with any animal that has human aggression.
A typical day
My pet care services are enrichment based, so I focus on engaging your pet in activities that meet your pet’s species-type needs. For dogs, this includes activities like walks, nose work, training, and play. For cats, this includes activities like playing, petting, and maybe some nose work with treats or catnip. For small animals, it’s best if you let me know what type of activities you do to engage your pet. While I know generally what a species may need, I’m not familiar with all of them. I will do my best to do some research before my visits, but you know your pet best! You may notice my drop in rates and walk rates are the same. Because I focus on enrichment based pet care, some days just aren’t best for a walk, or we only use part of the visit time for a walk. Times like that I will set up other activities for your dog so that they still burn some energy!

Caring for your pet properly is my first priority! I am in control of my week to week schedule, so with enough notice your pet’s visits are planned into my weekly schedule.
