Pets are family too

Pet care experience

I have had a deep love for animals all my life. As a child a dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian as an adult, however life had other plans for me. At 19 I began working in the veterinary field as a kennel attendant and moving up the ranks to technician, head receptionist and assistant manager by the time I was 21. I was living on Long Island and felt at home working with animals. In 2011 I began pet sitting for hospital clients, watching their cats and dogs both in my home and theirs. These pets have become part of my family, I have cried with clients who have lost their fur babies as well as rejoiced with them when they recover. I moved to PA in 2015 and began to focus on my career, working in the hospital. My life had once again changed course and I met my husband in PA. He has been self-employed most of his life. His family owns a wood shop in Schaefferstown, taking the business over in 2007 from his father. It became part of my life as well leading to me leaving my time in the animal hospitals to assist him with the paperwork end of the business in 2018. Since then I had done missed the rewarding feeling of being with animals that are not my own daily. After discussing options and possibilities of going back to work we decided that the best use of my time would be to pet sit again. This allows me to serve the public again while keeping me home to help work his business. Our home consists of both my husband and I with our four pups and two cats. Sophie Rae is a 4-year-old long hair dachshund. Callie Belle is a 1.5-year-old malti-poo, Paisley Noel and Evie Starr are 5-month-old morkies. Atticus is our largest cat he is a DSH about 5 years old and Zeus is a DSH about 5 years old, he is the smallest fur kid in our home. We own our cape cod style home in Lebanon that sits on .22 acres. We have portioned off part of our property to allot for a pet area, divided into 2 sections, to avoid any kind of scuffle between pets during potty and play time. I have 15 years’ experience treating pets in a veterinary setting. I am comfortable medicating injectables, orally (mouth) pills or liquid, ocular (eyes) drop or ointment, & aural (ears) flush, drops, or ointments. I have direct access to Veterinarians at Manheim Pike Veterinary Hospital in Lancaster PA. I am comfortable reaching out to a clients personal Veterinarian to create a working relationship with them in the event of any unforeseen incident that may occur while your pet is under our care. Our goal is to create long lasting, loving relationships with our clients and their pets. We hope to provide a service to our community and our service men and woman. We know that being away from your pets is always a difficult decision as to who you trust with the care and wellbeing. It is our desire to keep your pet’s routine a normal as possible while in our care, loving them as if they were our own. Weather your fur baby is in our home or we drop in to see them, you can rest assured the same love, care and attention they are accustom will be given. We know the decision of leaving a pet is always hard, while finding the right fit can be even more difficult. The choices are endless, but we look forward to serving you and the needs of your pets. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We would love to have you as part of the Wags N Whiskers family.

My experience with Allyson & Shane’s dogcare services was terrific. From communicating beforehand, to meeting them and receiving updates during my dog’s stay, they were professional, friendly, experienced and provided wonderful service. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog Pia in their care and would definitely recommend them!

When leaving your pets in anyone's hands other then your own, it is always a stressful event for all involved. My Penny was hit by a car 1 week before we were headed out of the country for a month. Penny was all set up to board at a kennel, however I had a bad feeling about leaving her in a place over night with no one in the building. So I began to reach out to friends and family looking to find someone who would be willing to watch Penny for a month as well as take her to vet appointments for bandage changes and check ups for her wounds. I was given Allyson's name and number from a family members co-worker. After about a 2 hour conversation we agreed that she would come and meet my Penny and speak with our vet. Two days before we were to leave Penny had a check up with her doctor and we found she has fighting a major infection and needed to be hospitalized on IV medications for a couple of days. I was not sure what to do but after speaking with the doctor and Allyson I was comfortable leaving the country with Allyson and our Vet taking the reigns. The month away was going to come with a lot of unanswered questions, we did leave our international phone number and a credit card was left with Allyson, she had us sign a paper giving her permission to make decisions on our behalf. Luckily nothing major transpired while we were gone. When we arrived home we found that Penny had her cast removed and was walking like nothing had happened. When we left Penny was on 4 medications and had bi-weekly trips to the vet. Somehow Allyson managed to not only care for my Penny, make sure she had everything that she needed while working full time in another veterinary hospital, taking care of her husbands business.

Allyson and her husband are two wonderful people. She has such an immense love for all furry friends. I dropped my 2 pups Misty and Arnold off to her for boarding. In past experiences going to a kennel my pups would look down and sad. When they go to her house they have tails wagging and ready to play. They always great her with a big kiss and her pups get so excited to see mine. They have their own area to lay on a nice fluffy bed with blankets and toys. My kids always bring their favorite toy with them. They get to run and play, I have found that they are much less stressed when I am away. Arnold would always come home with hot spots when coming home from the kennels but with Allyson he has had no issues post boarding. I am so thankful to have found her and her husband, knowing that my kids will be cared for and loved as if they were in our own home. As a plus she sends us photos of the kids while we are away.

BEST PET SITTER EVER!!!!!!! I will spare you all the boring details. Allyson has been pet sitting for my 3 kids for the last 2.5 years. I called her one day in a panic, we had a death in the family and needed to head out of town immediately. At first she told me she was not available as she and her husband were going to be out of town. They travel with their pets, they were headed to the beach in their camper. At the time they traveled with 3 small dogs, (Millie who has passed away, Callie and Sophie) She put me on hold for about 5 minutes and they seemed like an eternity. When she came back on the line she said she would be willing to take my 3 with them to the beach if it was ok with me and my husband. I was blown away never in my life has someone adjusted their own life to help someone else in that way. I offered to double her fee but she declined, understanding a family emergency happens. She sent me photos of my kids on the beach with hers they even walked along the shore line. When they returned home she gave my pups a bath so they didn't come home covered in sand and salt water. She took one big weight off my shoulders knowing that my kids were safe with her family while I took care of my human family.
