Pet care experience
I started taking care of neighborhood pets when I was 10. I have experience owning/caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, lizards, fish, and other small mammals. I worked at a pet hotel outside of Washington DC for three years. The pet hotel gave me the opportunity to work with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments. I have taken care of blind, deaf, and paralyzed dogs. I am comfortable giving oral and topical medications as well as shots to both cats and dogs. I have volunteered at various shelters/humane societies since I was 18. I am currently a post doc in companion animal behavior and welfare. More specifically, I study shelter cat and dog behavior. I love meeting new cats and dogs!

Allison did a great job taking care of my house full of kitties while I was gone. She was super knowledgeable and respectful of personality quirks and preferences. She sent pictures every visit and is was obvious they were having a good time. I felt good knowing they were well taken care of
Allison took great care of our 2 dogs overnight. She kept us updated with pictures and messages. We are so thankful our dogs were in such good hands! We came home to happy pups!
Allison was so great with taking care of our pets while we were out of town! We were worried having never used Rover before, but Allison took such good care of them and sent us updates each day so we felt better about not being with them. Thank you so much Allison!

I like to know how your dog/cat spends their days. To do they like to be active? Do they just want to snuggle? I can do both. I would also like to know of any past/current health problems, so I can be prepared.
A typical day
I love to hike. With your permission I will take your dog hiking. If he/she is not comfortable in the car, we will walk around the neighborhood and park. I also enjoy taking dogs on ice cream and/or coffee dates!

Availability
My work schedule is fairly flexible, so I can schedule meetings around your pet’s needs. I can also work from your home if you would like me to spend a little more time with your pet. I do have three pets of my own, so I will have to check on them during my stay.
