Abracadabra!

Pet care experience

I use my teeth I try to paw I wine a lot I walk in circles But nothing seems to work Then, with a turn of your wrist You turn the doorknob And that's when I finally realize: YOU'RE A WIZARD! -Hagridog (Unknown Dog Author) Step right up, come one come all to the greatest show on earth. Starring: your dog! I would love to come amaze your pet with my finest wizardry. I'm great at "open sesame"-ing doors before walks and summoning all the treats. My "SHAZAM" fills the food bowl every single time. No smoke and mirrors here, no slight of hand - the magic is in all the lovins your dog will get while you're away. Pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain, that's just me trying to give one more belly rub before you get back! Disclaimer: I don't pull rabbits from hats. That gets my dog clients a little too excited. If you are fostering for a local rescue or shelter, send me some sort of proof and I'll give you at least 10% off! I love rescue pups!

Alley was so wonderful with my furry child while I was on vacation. She took great care of Mona and loved her as her own. I never had to worry while I was away. Thank you, Alley!

Alley is fantastic! She clearly loves what she does and loved on our girl Fiona so well while we were away for over a week! She sent pictures and did a lot of playing and was accommodating to all of my anxious dog mom overprotective stuff. She is a dog lover through and through and we will definitely enlist her help again in the future. Five stars - I highly recommend Alley!

Alley was a perfect, natural fit for my senior, almost blind and deaf Boston Terrier. Alley is such a personable, likeable caretaker. Would recommend her to others in a heart beat! AND... I planl use again soon and in the future. Puggs came home healthy and happy, too!

Alley was awesome….my boxer (Rocky) just had surgery the day before and Alley made sure that he was well taken care of while I was gone leaving me worry free! She came by the evening before to make sure she knew his medicine and special needs and was diligent in sending me updates of her visits. Anyone that is looking to find someone that leaves you with peace of mind that your furry friend is staying happy while you’re away, I would highly recommend Alley!

Information Alley G. would like to know about your pet

- Boarding in my home: My house is very small - I actually live in a tiny house on wheels - so I have listed that only one dog can stay at a time. If you have two small dogs that always live together, we could probably figure something out but I do not expect that more than one large dog would be comfortable in my home. I really do love big dogs but I just want them to be happy, and my home may not be a great fit for lots of very large dogs. For boarding in my home, dogs MUST be current on flea, tick, and heart-worm preventative, as well as rabies and leptospirosis ("lepto," often transmitted by squirrels and contaminated water) vaccinations to stay with me. This is absolutely NON-NEGOTIABLE for stays in my home. For stays in your home, this is much more flexible. The woods around my home are full of critters and I don't like to take chances with things that could potentially make your favorite family member sick. I will do everything in my power to keep your pet safe, that's why I'm very strict about these preventative measures. - Extra special babies (pets with special needs): As a medical student (human-doctor student), I'm familiar with how to handle a variety of situations that also apply to pets. I've seen my own dog have a seizure once and, although it was heartbreaking, it is something I was able to handle - thanks to my training with people. I'm trained in giving people injections and even starting IVs, so if your dog needs injected medication all you have to do is show me what I need to do for him or her and I am confident that I will be capable. I've also diapered dogs, hidden oral medications in cheese/peanut butter/treats, loved on deaf and blind pups (and one that is both deaf and blind - she's so awesome but don't get me started on irresponsible breeding), cried through canine cancer, attempted to give a bird CPR, and doctored post-surgical wounds. I personally love senior dogs the most. There's something so special about a tired old puppy with a big heart. I'm happy to accommodate the needs of all dogs but I've had a lot of experience with loving older dogs. As you can see from my pictures, I have experience with extra large dogs. My sweet pup, Caly, was around 95 pounds when these pictures were taken and she was a very strong puller, as she hadn't had much leash-experience before coming to live with me. I can handle most dogs that pull on the leash and if you'd like some tips on how to reduce those behaviors, I'm happy to help in any way I can! I will be very frank with you if I don't feel qualified to care for your pet. Safety is my number one priority. - Pet parent concerns: I really do love dogs. Growing up, I don't remember a time that we didn't have at least one dog of our own. We also had guinea pigs, a sugar glider, fish, a goat, a horse, pet chickens, cats, a rabbit, and a parakeet throughout my childhood. (There are probably other animals I forgot to include in that list). My mom had a hard time saying no to animals that had a rough life, so pretty much all of our pets were rescues. Feel free to ask me about Patches, the earless guinea pig! My family also did A LOT of pet and house-sitting, so I've been doing this sort of work since I was able to refill a water bowl. At this point, I've seen almost everything pet-sitting can throw at me. With my family, I've house-sat an entire farm with a hundred or so head of cattle, goats, chickens, and even an emu! We rode fence lines, maintained pools, and bottle-fed new additions while friends and family were out of town. We were once watching some orphaned, bottle-fed baby goats for a family when an unexpected tropical storm rolled in (I'm originally from the Houston-area). We ended up having to take the goats to our own home and put them up in the bathroom for a few nights. While that was not a fun mess to clean up, it is a great story to tell. We still laugh about all the animals that have spent the night in the guest bathroom at my parents' house - chickens, a pig, baby goats, and more! I've watched all species of pets from rats to miniature horses. We even watched a water monitor once (that we had to feed live mice to)! I'm really not afraid of much. I've been bit, scratched, and pooped/peed on more times than you can count. My sister took a few animal behavior courses in college and taught me how to clicker train as well as interpret some basic behaviors. - If I didn't answer every single one of your questions in this very long-winded essay, please message me! It's an excuse to look at the pictures of your pet(s).

A typical day

We live in a small community completely surrounded by woods and trees. We could go on walks through the trees, visit with the neighbors dogs (if that's something your dog would like), and chase squirrels. I'm a (very slow) runner, so if your dog likes to jog - let me know and we'll go on a run or two. I also love going to Z. Bonz park in Fort Worth, so we may do that, depending on scheduling and such. If you'd really like something specific for your dog, let me know and I'll do my best to make it work. I want to make your pet love me almost as much as they love you. :)
