GMU post-grad missing having dogs!
Pet care experience
I had been pet sitting for friends for years before I knew it could be an actual job, complete with texting regular photo updates. :) I'm comfortable with dogs large and small, and any breed - I don't believe in 'naturally aggressive' dog breeds, only lack of training and care on both the canine and human side. I grew up with a German Shepherd and a Golden Retriever, and my most recent pet sitting experience before joining Rover was with active Scottish terriers, a sweet old Chow-Shepherd-Lab mix, and a couple cats. As I work full-time, my time with dogs as a Rover is more quality over quantity. I'm a great go-to sitter at the last minute if you're going on a long weekend trip, and I have no problem with last-minute cancellations either. If I'm not available (finals week, calendar glitch showing me free when I'm not, or maybe your dog has decided I'm in league with the mailman and not to be trusted!) I can always help you search to find another great sitter to look after your pets. I grew up with dogs, and it's a wonderful experience being able to take care of them since where I currently live is too small for a dog of my own. I promise to provide the furry members of the family with safe, experienced, and loving care.
Reviews
Allison was very responsible with my dogs. They were well taken care of and she communicated with me on a regular basis. I would definitely use her again.
Allison is amazing with dogs. She came over multiple times and met them before sitting for our wedding. Great care and attention.
Well, several years, and several tries later Alison was able to come and take care of my boy Bishop, for a total of… Several hours! She has been kind and gracious to adjust to ever moving target of schedules of a sick dog and life. Don’t hesitate to reach out to her, she is fabulous.
Our doggies love Alison. They were well cared for and walked regularly. Our house was also well cared for and as clean as we left it. Great sitter. Will be using her again.

Safety, trust & environment
I do pet sitting in client homes - my place is too small to properly care for a dog, plus the whole point of in-home pet sitting is so pets are comfortable and not stressed in a strange environment. I always make sure to have vet information, any medication or health info, be aware when cooking so I don't trip over them and also don't drop anything that might be toxic to dogs.
Information Alison R. would like to know about your pet
Before dog sitting I would like to know the same information as if I were baby sitting - what's the routine, any medications or allergies, favorite activities, and veterinarian/emergency contact information. REGARDING AVAILABILITY: I work about 9-6pm Mon through Fri. When I stay at an owner's place with their dog(s) I prefer to be there most of the day, so I can give them lots of attention and potty breaks any time, which limits me to the weekends. If your dog(s) can handle me being away for about 8 hours during the day, and/or if you have a second person for midday check-ins, please contact me as I'm usually available the entire week or longer.
A typical day
I love to go on walks with dogs - through the neighborhood, sometimes a regular park or a dog park. If the dog isn't overwhelmed we can go to an outdoor mall like Reston Town Center. Indoors I like to put on music and see if I have a new dance partner! I play fetch and other games with doggie toys, and of course if I'm sitting on the couch reading that's prime belly scratching time. REGARDING BELOW: Potty Breaks Every 0-2 Hours: This refers to my weekend availability, as I work in Herndon Mon - Fri. If you would like to book me during the week I will double check with you if your furry ones need someone with more weekday availability.

Availability
I have a regular office job, so during the week I take care of dogs before and after work. I try and get up early so they have human companionship before I leave, plus a walk if necessary. Then when I get back I can spend the whole evening with them! I try to have as little outings as possible while on a stay.
