A home away from home

Pet care experience

Welcome to our family of pet lovers! We started fostering rescue dogs in March of 2022 and have loved dozens of dogs into their new homes....so far! For years, our kids were bugging us for a dog, so we decided to foster with three local agencies to teach them the joys and hard work of caring for pets. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, working primarily with neurodivergent children and their families. I quickly discovered that my passion and skills for working with pets are as fulfilling as working with humans! We have experience with administering medications and helping timid and anxious dogs feel comfortable.

Allison was great! She is friendly, a fantastic communicator, and she asked many questions about Milo. This put us at ease, that he was in good hands and would be well taken care of. She also sent along pictures throughout his stay, to let us know how he was doing, which was really appreciated! We wouldn't hesitate to ask her to care for Milo again. Thanks Allison!!

We have a large fenced-in backyard and plenty of neighborhood sidewalks for walking. We like to frequent parks when the weather is nice to give our dogs new smells to discover. We are experts at acclimating scared, timid, and anxious foster dogs into our home with many tools for managing resource guarding and differing personalities. Our own foster fail, Buddy, has taught us that patience and training go a long way in helping a previously neglected dog live his best life! PLEASE NOTE: WE CAN NOT ACCOMMODATE LAST-MINUTE REQUESTS. We require a meet and greet before any new pet bookings. We have kids, and our dog, and want to make sure your pet is comfortable. It's safest for everyone so non-negotiable. The meet and greets are conducted in our backyard. We do not allow potential clients into our home until after the stay is booked. This is for safety and health reasons. We have many photos on our profile which show the inside of our home, and would be happy to send you more if needed.

Information Alison & David L. would like to know about your pet

We require a meet and greet for any potential new clients. This way- we ensure we are the perfect fit for you and your furry friends! During the meet and greet, we can discuss your dog's temperament around kids and other dogs. We can not accommodate aggressive animals (especially those with a bite history) and animals with any form of separation anxiety. We have a highly anxious small rescue dog that we successfully manage in our home with baby gates and proximity. He is dog-selective but easily redirected as needed. However, adding an anxious dog to the mix would be detrimental to both dogs. We require written proof of up-to-date vaccinations and a clean bill of health from a vet, including current flea and tick prevention. Please provide documentation from a vet prior to the start of your stay. This documentation should state that your dog is current and up to date on all required preventatives, specifically Rabies Distemper Bordetella (kennel cough) Please ensure that there is at least one local emergency contact listed who can assist in your absence, if necessary. Thanks!

A typical day

We have an active household with our two kids, our resident dog, and foster dogs. We have a large backyard for dogs to explore. During the summer, we have sprinklers and various kid pools for fun in the sun! Inside, we like to lounge on the couch watching TV or napping. We have tons of toys and enrichment activities for rainy days. Depending on the weather, we like to explore local parks and off-leash areas. Your dog will be well-loved! We will happily send photos, videos, and updates so you can enjoy your time away knowing that your fur family member is happy!
