Professional Dog Lover & Walker

Pet care experience

**Update: I am settling into a new full-time position and am not currently taking on new clients. Once I'm settled, I'll communicate my availability for morning & evening walks, and overnights. All the best!** 8/9/18 First and foremost, I understand how much your dog means to you, your family, and your friends. You are seeking out the best care for your loved one, and I want to thank you for considering entrusting your family member with me. I'm seeking opportunities to play, walk, and cuddle with your loved one. The only pet my landlord tolerates is my betta fish (although temporary house stays for dogs and cats are welcomed, depending on behavior. I would need to know our special guest beforehand). When my landlord told me I could pet the stray cats, instead of getting my own dog or cat, I doubt he realized they would become regular guests on our porch. They're living it up with special treats (to clean teeth), brushing services, and fresh water. So long story short, I miss animals! I grew up with dogs, cats, turtles, fish, guinea pigs, mice (my sister's idea), hamsters, hermit crabs, and on it goes. I have always been my friends' go-to pet sitter and walker. More than happy to provide references! Right now, I am working from home so I can spend lots of quality time with your precious family member. I enjoy long walks in the local parks, including Kingman and Heritage Islands, the Arboretum, and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. I also have a closed in backyard/patio area to play in-between walks if your loved one is staying with me. I'm comfortable working with all dog sizes and personalities. I grew up with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Husky, German Shepard, Pitbulls, Doberman, and a small guy that is a mix between a Chihuahua and Beagle (not all at the same time...). I have also worked with elderly dogs that are blind, deaf, and/or have a difficult time walking due to arthritis or adjusting to three legs. I'm very patient so this will never be a problem.

Alisha was great giving walks and companionship to Paris. Despite the very short notice we had to give, she was very responsive on a holiday weekend. She met all our timing requests and kept in touch each day with pictures. We returned to find Paris calm and well cared for. I have no reservation booking with Alisha again soon!

Alicia was wonderful with our dog who is a little shy and anxious as she is still getting used to living in a city. Alicia was patient and kept me updated. She was fantastic! We will definitely use her again!

Alisha was a fantastic walker! She not only walked Ava for well over the 30 minutes, but also stayed and played with her and gave her plenty of love. She kept me updated and sent photos as well. Will definitely use her again!

Information Alisha C. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting a dog, I would like to know the dog's behavior/personality, diet, routine, and level of friendliness to humans and animals that are not part of the immediate family. I say this because I used to walk a dog that was larger, and due to a rough upbringing, he was not friendly to other people and dogs when he was in "his territory." This affected our walks, and we made it work, but quirky behaviors are good to know ahead of time. If your dog needs medicine given, I am comfortable administrating this as long as you walk me through the routine ahead of time.

A typical day

Where we go for walks will depend on the starting location (my place vs. your place) and owner preferences. My personal preference is venturing to a local park or dog park. I'm open to any activities. What does your dog prefer? To give you an idea, I'm all for: playing (fetch, tug-a-war, etc.), cuddling, hiking, walking, napping, talking, and socializing at DC's many dog/human welcomed establishment, etc. If your dog is energetic, great. If your dog prefers to nap between walks, also great.
