Alicia was awesome! She watched my cat over a three day period and sent lots of updates and pictures. The food/litter box situation was in great shape when I got home, and most importantly I came home to a happy kitty!

Alicia watched Rickles for a long week while I was away and she did an outstanding job! Rickles returned tired and happy, and Alicia’s apartment is full of life forms. She loves life and animals, and I’m always confident when Rickles stays with her - this was her second stay with Alicia. I cannot recommend Alicia highly enough.

Caring for Animals is All I Do!

I'm a true animal lover living in South Oakland, Pittsburgh, currently attending CMU for my graduate studies. I work as an adoption counselor at a local shelter and have previous experience working in animal care at shelters for all species. I am familiar with animal behavior, and am formally trained in safe handling techniques to maximize safety and comfort. I have experience administering all types of medication, including injections and fluids. Every single day, I'm ...

What Alicia would like to know about your dog

***Meet and greets are ALWAYS free. They are highly recommended for all services, but not required.
***My rates are non-negotiable. If you wish to pay less, please find another sitter.
***I am comfortable injecting and administering all types of medication; please leave more than enough to last your pet through their stay with me.
***Appointments are FIRM - I have commitments to other clients!
***Please be sure to leave me a hard copy of care instructions, either in paper format or on Rover itself! I need something to refer back to in case you cannot be contacted.

For walks and drop ins:
***I WILL accept last minute requests for drop ins/walking as my schedule allows.

For boarding:
***ALL dogs staying at my home must be up to date on a flea preventative.
***Drop off and pick up times are mutually agreed upon at least 72 hours before drop off - changes outside this time frame may not be able to be accommodated.
***Boarded dogs need to have manageable prey drives as my personal pets are very scared of predatory dogs; though everyone is kept completely separated for the duration of the stay.
***I highly appreciate at least 72 hours notice for all boarding guests. I am not always able to accommodate last minute requests.
***NO escape artist dogs; if your dog can escape crates or will jump over baby gates, we are not a good match. I do confine dogs when I leave the house for their own safety. I am NOT home full time - I have a part time job and attend classes in the fall and spring.
***There is a TWO NIGHT MINIMUM for all new boarding clients. I may take repeat clients for one night only at my discretion - but I cannot accommodate requests with no overnight stay.
***Senior dog owners: I have many stairs in my home.
***I do NOT allow guest animals on my bed, in my bedroom, or to sleep with me at night.
***When you drop off your pet for boarding, please bring AT LEAST the following:
DOGS: crate, food/medicine for the duration of the stay + extra, leash, collar/harness, ID tags
CATS: carrier, litter, litter box, litter scooper, food/medicine for the duration of the stay + extra
OTHER: ask me
Optional (but highly recommended) for any animal: bed, blankets, toys
I can provide food/water dishes, extra blankets, some toys, and poop bags if needed (although appreciated if you bring them). All of your pet's belongings will be returned to you in clean condition at the end of the stay.

When Alicia watches your pet

I am an early riser. Depending on your dog's preference, we go for a quick stroll around the block or a simple trip to the backyard. I follow the feeding routine your dog is used to. I leave the house for a few hours (3-4) to go to work/class, but typically return in the early/mid afternoon for a longer walk/exercise break. Afternoons are usually spent at home; and are peaceful and relaxing. As evening falls we usually go out for another walk; with the length depending on the dog's preference. When we return it is usually play/meal time, which helps the dogs to wind down before bed.

Boarded animals get their own individual space in my very quiet living room and kitchen, set up with everything they need to feel comfortable. I spend most of my time at home in the living room, where boarded pets are welcome to join me, but they should be comfortable sleeping away from me in the evenings. I have many extra supplies I keep on hand for all my boarding guests: including toys, treats (owner approved of course), beds, blankets, and some crates, so I'm well prepared to handle anything your pet might need.
