EXPERIENCED SITTER WITH ANIMAL CARE QUALIFICATIONS

Pet care experience

I am usually working part time at a boarding kennel and cattery however being at in university means that my shifts are few and far between so I am able to do rover work! my work day to day is filled with feeding, walking and cleaning so i have no problem doing these things for your pets, I have had lots of practice! I have always loved animals and have been surrounded buy them from a young age. we had dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, tortoises and a hedgehog! i have been working and studying with animals for about 8/9 years now and am currently studying Clinical Animal Behavior and Training at University hence why I spend half my year in Andover and half in Gloucester. I honestly love doing rover work while studying as not only does it mean I have a lovely quiet place to study but going out on walks means I get out and about in study breaks which is so important for productivity and mental health. I am currently open for the summer bookings from June to August I will be operating mainly in the south west as I will be based in Andover in Hampshire though could travel further for a long stay

We're very grateful to Alice for sitting our lab and at short notice. Alice knows animals really well, is professionally-qualified and experienced, so she's super relaxed and confident, which was very reassuring. And everything was really smooth - she communicated well and was really flexible with timings etc. Thanks!

I have known Alice for as long as I can remember and in that time we have both loved and cared for many pets. Being our own or others. I have seen Alice provide some of the best attention I have ever seen towards her own pets. Bunny, her hedgehog Pumpkin, Jazzy the cat, Poppy and Archie the dogs to name a few. In her love, care and attention for animals she has provided any in her care to excellent standards. She has built homes, walked, cuddled, fed, trained, bathed, nursed and played in her own enjoyment her whole life. I have seen the continuity of her love out stretch from her own and others pets, to wildlife and stray animals in foreign countries. Whenever I need advice about how to manage to care for an animal I go straight to her. The best thing I can say is she genuinely cares and loves what she does, making everything she does 10 times better than anyone else can try to do.

Safety, trust & environment

I'm afraid I cannot offer boarding as I love in student accommodation and I wouldn't like to put any dog in a potentially stressful environment! When I'm sitting at the house I will never leave the house for longer than your animal is happy with which we can talk about, as I don't have many other responsibilities I will not have any unexpected reasons to leave. I often spend my days at a kitchen table on a sofa with a dog bed next to me, this way you'll pet can feel that they can come as close or stay as far away as they like! I love a good cuddle but will respect personal space if they prefer. Often first morning/day I try to keep myself "small" so that your animal can investigate me in their home properly this often looks as if I'm ignoring your pet as I want them to feel at ease to investigate me as much as they want and get comfortable with me without me forcing myself into their space. I never, ever mingle any animals be them dogs, cats or hamsters(!) that have not previously met for safety reasons.

Information Alice c. would like to know about your pet

i am happy and able to handle special needs in your pet, just let me know when you book what special considerations your dog needs and i can accommodate, i have a very flexible routine so im easily able to tailor my day around any preferences

A typical day

Many the pets that I sit have their own daily routine which I follow I'll ask you as an owner what you do in a typical day and I'll try to mirror it to make sure their walks, feeding etc is at the same time it always is. Animals really thrive on routine and I really noticed that when they're feeling insecure because their owners have gone away; keeping their routine intact can make them feel much more secure. If a routine is not already in place I usually feed once around 8 to 9:00 a.m. and once at around 5pm and do a walk for about an hour or two depending on your dogs independent needs
