Dog Walker w/ Vet Tech Experience!

Pet care experience

I started my career in animal care as a veterinary technician. During graduate school, I established a dog walking business, which became a success! I loved working with dogs of all temperaments and sizes, and I grew to love dogs like they were my own. As I graduated from my Masters program, I realized that my true calling was working with pets and have stuck with it since! I worked as a veterinary technician for three years, and have now worked as a professional dog walker for five years. I have a lot of experience with different animals in all different settings so nothing ever throws me off track. As a vet tech, I learned how to take care of pets with a variety of medical needs. I love going outside with guest pups, whether hiking and playing in parks. I will always take care of your dog like they are my adopted family member for the stay. I have a husband who helps with any dogs that stay, and a seven-year-old stepson who adores dogs and knows how to be responsible around them (we've been doing this since he was four). I also have two cats, one black cat and one Maine Coon. They tend to be picky but will leave any guest dogs alone until they are used to them. I have a Chincoteague pony who I’ve raised since she was 6 weeks old. I usually go ride and groom two to three times a week. Aside from bonding with animals, I love to read books — my absolute favorite thing to do is garden and research new gardening methods. I also love cooking and trying different recipes. I love the outdoors, which is one of the reasons dog care is perfect for me.

Alexsandra took such good care of my 18 year old cat, Lola, while I was away for a week and a half. I received daily texts with updates and shockingly she was able to get pics everyday of my very shy cat. I looked forward to each of these updates everyday and it kept me sane while I was far away. This is my first time using Rover and my first experience with Alexsandra and I would 100% recommend both. I will def be using again without hesitation. Thanks for the peace of mind!

Alexsandra did an excellent job taking care of my 5 cats while I was away for a week. Her prior vet tech experience left my mind at ease knowing my cats were in good hands, especially since one of my cats needs heart meds daily. Alexsandra was very accommodating and kept in touch. It was comforting to receive her daily updates and pictures of my crew. On top of all this, the house was exactly how I left it and all of my mail and several heavy packages were taken inside.  She even took my garbage cans in from the curb. Thank you Alexsandra for providing peace of mind and great service! You are the best pet sitter ever!

8/27/2019 This review represents the second time we've had Alexsandra care for our 6 YO Lab-Mix, Stella and, following our return from two weeks on the West coast, we remain pleased with the care that Alexsandra provided. Alexsandra first cared for Stella back in May of this year. We recognized that Stella would feel comfortable returning to the home where Alexsandra first cared for her which made our boarding decision much easier for our August trip. We also wanted to eliminate any needless stress on Stella by placing her in an environment she was unfamiliar with. Once again, Alexsandra sent us daily photos of Stella combined with text messages in response to my questions all of which served to support the degree of care and affection Stella was receiving while we were away. Stella always appeared happy and, content with the fact that her Host permitted Stella to sleep on their bed and/or their furniture all of which is consistent with her routine at our home. It should be noted that Stella demonstrated a good deal of respect for Alexsandra's two cats which, of course, made for a satisfactory stay. Once again, we would recommend Alexsandra for short or long periods of care for your pet as she met all of our requirements during our time away from home.

A typical day

Dogs who stay with me are walked at least three times a day, either around my neighborhood, a nearby park, or the mountain reservation near my house. If the pup has toys, we’ll play with them — if not we’ll hang out and watch TV or read books together. I have three days off in a row, so during that time I will be home all day — if I need to run errands they are only for a small amount of time. My husband’s schedule is opposite of mine, so if I am not home, he’s usually available to let the dogs outside for potty breaks. I will always treat any guest dog like they are part of my family, including letting them sleep in my bed with me (if the owner allows)! We always go on adventures — pups are never bored, and there will always be cuddles. My clients will be constantly informed about their dogs stay — I send lots of pictures, texts about feeding and bathroom breaks, and general check-ins. Your dog's safety and happiness are top priorities with me! I live in the city of Clifton, which has many different neighborhoods. I live close to the base of the mountain in an area called Acquackanonk. It is very quiet, and made up of lots of little houses and cul de sacs. There is a large park two minutes from my house, and a nice hike on the mountain is only five minutes away. Dogs love the wooded trails, playing in my backyard, and socializing in the park.
