Student passionate about animals

Pet care experience

I believe that my education in animals, with a concentration on small animals, as a Pre-Vet student combined with my experience in breeding and caring for dogs work to give me an especially great advantage to dog sitting and walking. I'm young so I have the energy and prowess to walk dogs for extended periods of time as well as having the experience of already having worked with a variety of breeds and sizes. My schedule is relatively flexible as long as you don't mind working with my class schedule and I have my own means of capable transportation too and from your home! During the week I am able to work in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area and over the weekend I am able to work in the Little Falls, New Jersey area so I have a versatile location range.

Information Alexis Z. would like to know about your pet

I personally as being a woman of more petite stature have worked more within the 5-65 pound range for dogs so i do find myself a bit more comfortable staying within that set, however I would never mind a pup larger then that! There is simply more to love on them! I do like to know the level of energy that they are prone too such as if they are regularly walked or are typically high strung, their diet and if there is any restrictions within it so i can bring the proper types of treats for them if necessary, the level of obedience they have is a bit important when it comes to walking since I don't think i would be able to manage a larger dog with no basic training when it comes to things such as walking or bringing them to the park however for house visits it is not a requirement for the dog to be trained.

A typical day

Besides the obvious answer of bringing them on a walk in either the surrounding neighborhood, nearest park/dog park, since as we all know a tired dog is a good dog, I love to stimulate the dogs mind when pet sitting! Some games that are great to play with them are the puzzle toys which really stimulate their creative thinking and is a great way for senior dogs who may not necessarily be able to take long walks to stay stimulated within the home. Other games that I like to play are small obedience games depending on the level of obedience the dog may already have its a great way to introduce new tricks in both younger and older dogs while keeping them motivated with food! Kong toys or bones that can be easily refilled with fillings are a great way to distract, calm down, or reward a pup after a fun filled walk or game and is a great way to get them to relax while still keeping them attentive instead of power napping!
