I'll ❤️ your pet like I love mine!

Pet care experience

Like you, my pets are my babies. Ever since I was a little girl, I've always loved animals, be they dogs, cats, ferrets, turtles, or those of the more wild variety (lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!). As a kid, I wanted to be a vet but then realized it meant having to deal with the sadder side of working with animals. :( So instead, I decided to focus on the happier side - getting to love and dote on other peoples' pets! From a very young age, I've always had one pet or another (mostly dogs and cats), and had to take on the responsibility of feeding, walking/exercising, vet visits, administering meds, nail trims (never fun, but so rewarding when you're finished!), and best of all, snuggling and playing. I understand that when you have to go out of town, you want nothing but the best for your pups (or kitties). You want to be assured that they will be in a loving home, that their needs will be taken care of, and that they will get plenty of affection. In my home, your babies will get plenty of love and attention, play and exercise (for the more active bunch), and rest and relaxation (for the older or calmer bunch), with a dose of discipline for the more rambunctious crowd. They will be in great company with my dog, Maia, a Husky/Shepherd mix (born 2013). She's naturally energetic but has settled in her middle age years, which creates a perfect combination to play with the more energetic pups, or let sleeping dogs lie (especially in that sunny spot by the front door). Then there's Cora, my 7 year old daughter (of the human variety) who has been through this rodeo more times than I can count - she's great with the dogs too! Newest to our pack are our Covid kitties, Grayer (a Russian Blue aptly named by my daughter) and Tovah Ruth Bader Ginsberg (your run of the mill American Shorthair who has big shoes to fill with that name). We got them as young kittens so they would learn that their environment will always contain a variety of dogs. And I'll say - they've done a great job adapting and will sometimes even play with the dog, depending on their personality, size and energy level. The house is cozy (in other words: small) and the dogs have the run of the house. I've also got a good sized fenced-in yard for them to run around in when they get antsy indoors. Everyone is current on their rabies shots and flea/tick medicine. Full disclosure: during busier times, I take up to 5 pups, occasionally more than that if my regulars hit me up at the last minute (which happens more than you might think). My general rule is not to take more than 1 new dog, so that I don't have to worry about multiple animals whose personality/temperament is new to me. I have made exceptions on rare occasions but have found that my method works well. It's a bit of mayhem in the house during this busier times, but gives the pups LOTS of socialization and opportunity to play with different personalities. And for those who just want to be left alone by other dogs, we can accommodate that too. :) There's not a whole lot I'll say no to without a meet and greet first, so come one, come all! Pits, puppies, fixed or not... reach out and let's discuss your pet's next vacation destination! I am home most of the day, no 9-5 job per se, and only leave the house for short stints usually - errands, grocery shopping, etc. Usually max time away from the house is 2 hours, with an occasional longer outing but I try to avoid that. Everyone sleeps indoors, usually in my bedroom (but not in the bed) and has plenty of unlimited access to the large fenced-in backyard during the daytime. Mealtimes are based on your dogs needs but I don't leave food down, to avoid possible fights. If your dog is a grazer, I will work to accommodate them so they still get to eat their meal. :)

Alexis is awesome!! Looking forward to having her check-in on my cat again in the future. She is extremely accommodating and dependable. She made me feel super comfortable, is an excellent communicator and has an evident love and passion for animals. She also sent great videos!

Alexis has a great house with a nice backyard that was perfect for my two dogs. She took great care of both of them and made sure they felt comfortable with the other dogs that were in the house. By pictures and videos I could tell they were able to trust her and had a great time! I’ll definitely reach out to her again next time I’m out of town.

Information Alexis S. would like to know about your pet

Is your dog fixed? House trained? Does he/she get along with cats and kids? Are there any "bad habits" (chewing on furniture, marking, eating socks and toys left on the floor, etc.) that I should know about ahead of time? Nothing is a problem as long as I know about it so I can watch out for it.

A typical day

Depending on how many dogs I have at one time, their size and energy, and the weather, we usually take a 15-20 minute walk around our neighborhood. We also spend plenty of time out in the backyard, playing fetch and generally running around, having a good time! And of course lots of cuddles!
