“Threes Company” or “three’s a crowd” makes it sound like a trio living together is rife with drama and conflict, but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. My boyfriend and I live with my brother and we have the best time together. We’re all huge dog lovers and our home is filled with laughter and happy energy. Of course I’ll be the primary caretaker, but they’ll be around to provide extra belly rubs and cuddles. My brother and I grew up on a farm surrounded by lots of different animals, and I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was ten years old. Aside from working on a farm for several years, I’ve also volunteered at my local city shelter when I lived in Santa Barbara. I’ve cared for countless pets for family and friends over the years, and view this work as a truly rewarding career path––nothing gives me more sense of purpose and happiness than caring for such amazing living creatures. I currently have a very loving, old cat who usually stays in my room lounging on the bed or under a sliver of sun. She’s usually oblivious to her canine peers. We don’t have any pups in our house at the moment, but my family has seven dogs! Yes, seven dogs. I love this work because I get to have my puppy fix while meeting new people in the process. I think what draws people and animals to me is my high energy and positive attitude towards life. The world can be a difficult place, but I always try to see situations as half full rather than half empty. There is so much to be grateful for, and dogs exude that optimism and spirit in spades. Being surrounded by animals, dogs in particular, keeps me looking forward instead of harping on the past or things out of my control. Dogs help me reconnect with nature and feeling like a kid again. I love, love, love being outside and the more excuses I can find, the better! I love going to the beach and on long hikes, so if your pup is up for it, we’ll definitely be spending a lot of time outdoors. I also love to play games like fetch or tug of war. There’s no better feeling than tiring out a pup with lots of fun activities and watching them sleep it off. I also enjoy those rainy days when we have to say indoors curled on the couch with a good book and a snoring dog. For me, it’s about building community––whether it’s with my family, friends, or neighbors. I relish quality time connecting with those around me, and I feel like dogs make this happen on the regular. We’re often trapped in our own personal bubbles, so much so that we forget to look up from our screens to really see another person and hear their stories. I love that I can have conversations and meet new people and pups just by walking down the street with a furry friend by my side. My main goal is to wake up every morning and make sure I can provide the best service to make your pup safe, comfortable, and happy.
