Pet care experience
Update as of 5/10/2022: Our girl Zoey has peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. We miss her smooches and happy wiggle. Please remember to donate to local shelters like the Chicago Canine Rescue and incredibly compassionate organizations like Live Like Roo. We are now accepting new clients in the city and suburbs. Update as of 4/17/2022: Zoey has been a strong girl and we’ve exhausted every treatment for the lymphoma. We’re preparing to say goodbye and loving her as much as possible. If you’re able and willing to donate we do have a Go Fund Me to help us pay for her final arrangements. We’re currently accepting appointments from established clients and will continue to be taking a small break from meeting new clients. Thank you for wishing us well and sending some love to Zoey our special girl. Update as of 9/1/2021: We are currently in cancer treatment for our girl Zoey. We don’t know how much time we have left with her but we’re hopeful for remission. Because she’ll be immunocompromised during treatment we’re taking a break from sittings. Please wish her well as we work on getting her well. We will update as things progress. Update: Now open to city and ‘burbs! I’ve had a few clients move to the suburbs and I’m happy to continue to be your trusted babysitter if you happen to also move. Cheers! Penguin Dogs Chicago is an experienced family owned and operated business. Our associates are happy to care for your pet’s care and development in the city and suburbs. Thank you for supporting our growth! COVID-19 Precautions: We take the current events very seriously and take steps to ensure your safety. All surfaces are sanitized after care. Social distancing is encouraged and masks enforced. Vaccination processes are underway and being monitored. Should you have any concerns or special needs, we are happy to address your questions and put your mind at ease. From Penguin Dogs Chicago Founder Lex Porres: I love all kinds of animals but dogs hold a special place in my heart. I've had dogs consistently since I was 14. All of my dogs were rescues with different stories. I've had a Chihuahua, a Lhasa Apso, a Rottweiler, a Border Collie Mix, a Pit Bull, and I'm the Proud Aunt of a Corgi. One day I hope to raise an Irish Wolfhound. Half of my life thus far has been dedicated to raising dogs and other animals. I've had dogs at all stages of their life even birth and weening. Currently, I volunteer at the Chicago Canine Rescue. In the future I would like to open a rescue for all breeds of dogs on a large plot of land in the countryside. Dogs are friends fur life!
Reviews
Alexie did a great job watching our two pups - an English Bulldog and a French Mastiff. Our dogs do not do well when having to stay in a boarding facility, so finding a reliable and dependable "in home" dog sitter was key for us. Alexie did a great job and was super communicative with updates and daily photos. I will definitely use her again!
Alexie is easily the best dog sitter we’ve found in the last 14 years. We have two older dogs, each with their own physical issues. Alexie was incredibly attentive to each of their needs and maintained their daily routines wonderfully while we were gone. She also took incredible care of our home and made our re-entry as smooth as possible after almost two weeks away. Knowing she was watching over our babies gave us great peace of mind.
Alexie was amazing with my two large dogs. She showed them love and affection the entire weekend - I’m not even sure they missed me while I was gone ?. Thankful to have such a reliable, loving, and responsible dog sitter in Chicago!!
Alexie did a great job with our leash reactive dog! It was a short trip but we came back to a happy healthy pup just as we left him. We already have her booked for another stay!

Information Alexie P. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know: Anything that particularly soothes the dog? Any preferred treats and toys? Do any activities/motions/ objects/events/noises trigger the dog? (for example my anxious girl Zoey is frightened or made anxious by: fireworks, windshield wipers, bird ringtones, things that squeak, ceiling fans, people sitting in parked cars, and dancing. My dog is a beautiful, anxiously friendly 75lb pit-mix rescue that is as much of a millennials as any of us!
