Pet care experience
I was born and raised in Iowa, and I grew up around animals all of kinds. During that time I always had a dog by my side, with a couple cats mixed in there as well. Currently my husband and I have 3 dogs and they are loved unconditionally. My husband is in the military and we moved to North Carolina in September 2019. I worked at an animal shelter in Georgia, where we fostered many dogs of all breeds and ages. I worked at an animal clinic and a grooming salon in Alaska, and I worked at a animal clinic in North Carolina, but I left that job to pursue my work more towards my degree in art. I had a baby in January 2021, so i cleared my schedule for a bit,, but now I'm back and look forward to helping you with your pets. We live in a small, quiet neighborhood and we have a big fenced in backyard. Our house is big enough we can open our hearts to boarding for 1-2 pets at a time and it's big enough just in case our pets need to be separated from your pets. I am willing to drive 30 minutes from home for pick ups. I like to try new walking or hiking trails in the surrounding area and having a furry companion always makes me happy and it gives them exercise that they usually enjoy. While boarding, if a bath is requested, the price will depend on how big the pet is. I love to take photos and would be more than happy to send multiples and written updates a day or just one update a day depending on preference. Although our dogs get hyper when new people are around and fool everyone about having any manners, they are able to calm down. They enjoy their day outside, soaking in the sun when the weather is nice. They also have comfy beds inside whenever they want to come in and nap. We have a calm environment in our home until it is playtime. I like to have music playing most of the day and I usually end up dancing with the dogs. Animals make me happy and I like to return the love to them. If there are any questions, I haven't answered please feel free to ask.
Reviews
Alexi did a great job sitting our fur baby for 8 nights. She sent updates everyday, including pictures and videos. Our fur baby really enjoyed her stay and didn't want Alexi to leave her. I will definitely be using her services on our next vacation.
Amazing, and super caring! Thank you so much for watching smokey and caring for Him as one of your own.
Alexi was great with my pet as always!
Alexi was so great for Loca! She sent me daily updates on how Loca was doing and fitting in with her other pups. She also had a crate available for my dog, which made everything easier when it came to drop-off and pick-up. I will certainly be recommending her to my friends and booking with her again in the future!

A fenced yard allows for free running, and plenty of toys and beds in the a/c when it's hot outside. Love to play with pups and get as much energy out as I can.

Information Alexi D. would like to know about your pet
For home visits/walking only clients, the rabies vaccination would be the only thing required because of the state law. Our animals are spayed or neutered and up to date on rabies, bordetella, distemper/parvo, lyme disease, and leptospirosis. They get a monthly chewable for fleas and ticks, and a chewable for heartworms that also deworms them. For boarding I would require pets be on a monthly heartworm, flea & tick medication. Up to date on rabies, it’s North Carolina’s state law, a yearly bordetella, and the distemper/parvo usually abbreviated as DHPP on vet records. I want my and your furry loved ones to be protected during the stay and I advocate for and believe in vaccinations and monthly prevention. These preferences are strictly for boarding clients, being dog and cat friendly is preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Like I said in my "about me" we have room for everyone to be separated if needed. The pet would need to be spayed or neutered if boarding with us as well. Being spayed/neutered will give a higher chance for everyone getting a long and I want the best for everyone involved in the situation. What I don’t want is for any of the animals to be stressed out by being here. I have a hundred pound at most weight restriction, but no breed restrictions. Being honest about your pet will go a long way with me, if they have any kind of ticks, social issues, medical problems I would like to know up front. Even if it may not be an issue during the short time I am with them, I would rather know about it just so I am prepared.
A typical day
We will walk around our quiet neighborhood to start with or near your house for daily walks. If they don't mind a car ride we will go to a park and go for a nice walk or hiking trail for different scenery. If all parties involved are ok with it, sometimes we will just take a car ride and run some errands along the way. (example car ride to the post office)
