Hi Fellow Pup Parents! ✨

Pet care experience

Growing up all over the Northern West Coast has molded me to love wildlife and nature. I was born in Northern California and enjoyed taking road trips with my mom and dogs. Since I was small, I’ve had a strong passion for animals so we always had dogs and various other animal associates living in our home. Helping care for my grandparents horses, cats, and dogs was my favorite way to spend summers. My whole life, I've wanted to be surrounded by living creatures and raised quite a variety of pets in my own home including bearded dragons, toads, fish, hamsters, an array of house plants, and of course- dogs! All the different puppers in the family and in my life have made me the person I am today. I moved up to Oregon for the rainy weather, gardens, and beautiful nature. I absolutely love the Portland areaand can’t wait to explore more of it. In my free time I enjoy hiking, gardening, and listening to music. Beach days with my pup are a favorite of mine as well. I got my start working at a Doggy Daycare and Hotel in San Rafael, CA. I really loved learning more about dog behavior first-hand. When I’m with someone else’s best friend, my primary objective is to make that pup feel as loved and comfortable as possible. This means giving them the attention, safety, and understanding that I’d want for my own dogs. Making friends with so many different dogs as individuals and building relationships with them all is the most rewarding part of this work. I’m so excited to meet your sweet Oregon dogs! Since I have moved here, I have been dog sitting & walking all over the area as well as a lead dog handler. On my walks with pups, I like adventuring different neighborhoods, hitting favorite parks, and taking the dogs on strolls they enjoy. While driving around and seeing all these new places is also nice, there is no place like home. My backyard is fully fenced with a lawn and covered patio area. Chill and safe for pups! It's absolutely perfect for running around and enjoying the fresh air. Disco, my 5 year-old Australian Shepherd is happy as a clam here and loves to have friends over! We have a new fam addition, our Pomeranian, Fizzgig. He’s 2 now! Both of my dogs are fully vaccinated and very friendly towards other pups, but very hyper and Fizzgig barks (he’s not aggressive though... and he’s tiny!). I recommend extremely patient, outgoing, playful, energetic dogs to stay over for boarding. If your pup is shy, it make take more time to get use to them when first meeting as they have a wild (but playful) energy. They must also get along with small dogs since we have Fizzgig around, looking like a fluffy little toy. Let’s see how everyone gets along! At the moment, I will only be offering walks and drop ins as my schedule has changed for the time being. Hope to see you soon!

Hoyt looked forward to his walks with Alexandra. He would get excited when the doorbell rang, and disappointed when it wasn’t Alexandra. We enjoyed her dependability, flexibility and keeping us updated. Hoyt moved to Bend, he will miss her.

Jethro had such a good time and Alexandra was very sweet. He was so worn out when I picked him up. I got pics and videos and everytime I could tell my good boy was having fun.

Alexandra has a nice fenced backyard, a friendly dog partner for our dog, and stayed in touch with us via texting and pictures of the dogs romping in her backyard. We felt totally comfortable with her care, and will look forward to using her again.

Safety, trust & environment

I encourage meet & greets before any service to ensure that pup and parent are comfortable with me as their new friend! For Walks: I ensure that my meet and greet is in the clients home so that the dog has seen me in their domain and welcomed me before I drop in for their scheduled visit or walk, when their owner is not home. I aim to keep pups as comfortable and happy as possible so I will enter calmly and offer owner-approved treats. Walks will take place as nearby to the home as possible, which means no car rides unless specifically requested. Keeping walks in a dog's familiar neighborhood helps them feel safe and secure. Pups will not be rushed and given plenty of time to sniff. As a safety precaution, I will avoid contact with all other dogs walking out and about, even if your pup is friendly. Dogs will be encouraged with owner-approved treats for good behavior during our outing. I will take pictures and videos during our walk and provide an owner update about how our walk went and if the dog did their business! I am also open to special requests, just ask! Drop-In Visits: I will have met the pup ahead of time s they are more comfortable with me entering the home. Upon coming in for the visit, I will greet the pup with a soothing voice and owner-approved treats. I will ensure the pup has water, food (if free-feeder), toys or chews accessible and perform a wellness check which includes a visual inspection for any signs of anxiety, extreme stress, medical concern, or other needs. I'll give the pup lots of love while I'm there with them, give them some company and make them feel more secure. I will be taking photos and videos of dogs for their parents as I will always send an owner update about how the pup is doing and how we spent our little visit! I will also follow any special instructions given by owner to check up on while I am there, such as giving the pup a peanut butter kong from the freezer or secure them in their crate, etc. For Boarding & Daycare: I have a fully fenced yard with a lawn and some trees to romp around in as well as a covered patio to shield rain or too much sun. There’s plenty of comfortable places to sit, including a doggie lounge chair. I have a dog door that allows pups to enter and exit as they please during play time. Dogs are allowed on all my furniture and welcome to snuggle up with me at night if they feel more comfortable in a bed. I have an excess of toys to choose from and a little kiddie pool for sunny day pool parties. My house is one level, no stair other than the doorstep. This makes moving around the house easier for elderly dogs and puppies. House has full air conditioning & heating control for all the changing seasons and multiple cozy beds and blankets. I keep a close eye on the dogs boarding or playing in day care at my home. Cabinets are secured shut, trash cans are behind doors, and bedroom/bathroom doors are kept shut throughout the day unless I am walking through, in which case a pup is welcome to follow me around. I keep door shut in order to maintain a closer eye on the doggos, making sure no one is getting into any mischief and to keep everyone in the same play area :)

Information Alexandra S. would like to know about your pet

I love to know their favorite toys, what treats they can have, and anything else that makes them happy! I will ask you about their daily routines, walks schedules, and where they like to sleep. Making sure your pup gets everything they need is important to me! I would also like to know how they interact with other dogs in the home and out on walks. Let me know if there is any way that you soothe your dog if they are upset. I do also like knowing the breed beforehand but I don't have a preference. All pups are good pups so just tell me about their personality or any quirks! Of course, let me know if their food is prepared a special way, any known allergies, and if they have any medications!

A typical day

Pups coming over for daycare or boarding will enjoy a fully fenced yard with grassy lawn, dog garden, lounging furniture, large covered shade/rain shelter area, and plenty of toys. Disco, my 3 year old mini aussie is socialized and loves to play. Fizzgig is still a young boy too so he is learning not to bark (as much) but is very playful and gets along with dogs once everyone is warmed up. I leave the dog door accessible for most of the daytime so the rest of the house will be open for the dogs to roam in and out as they please (with my supervision). Dogs will also be taken on 2 additional 45-min putting walk around the neighborhood every day of boarding. I have plenty of toys. We have a variety of balls, doggie puzzle games, Kong toys to be filled with treats and PB, frisbies, a kiddie pool, pull-ropes, and bubbles to play with them as well! For boarding pups, we will go for mild hikes along dog-friendly paths or walks on the Milwaukie waterfront, Sellwood waterfront/park or Willamette park, with permission of owner. My home is also located in a very quiet neighborhood perfect for mellow walks through the trees and cute houses. Any dogs boarding at my own home for the night will have their own separate areas to enjoy their meals without being disturbed. Comfy beds will be made up for them in my room, so they do not get lonely. They are also welcome to cuddle up in my bed if they wish! My home has 3 bedrooms, one of which is open completely for dog use if someone prefers to sleep or take naps or sleep in a crate with more privacy.
