Avid adventurer, uber mutt lover

Pet care experience

I've been a dog lover since the day I was born, and a study of dog behavior and genetics since I learned to read. A bit about me today: •20 years experience loving & training my own pups. •15 years experience loving & training other's pups. •I approach dog handling in a matter of fact, gentle manner, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques. •The most rewarding aspect of dog care is seeing pups flourish in an environment that focuses on exercise, nutrition, training and affection. •I'm an avid pet-sitter and will treat your pup, and take care of your home as if they were my own - but let's get outside and play! •Past shelter volunteer and intermittent foster paren, often taking on the difficult, unadoptable cases to help them shine. Yes, saying goodbye is hard, but being part of the journey is just as rewarding as being the end destination! •My current pack includes 35lb hound mix and 40lb Australian Cattle Dog. •I'm also a pet photographer. Message for details!

Dogs had a super time, great walk and well cared for. It was great coming home to happy puppies.

Alex is an amazing caretaker of animals. She has taken careof our animals for many years! Over that time we've had two cats and a dog, and never have I worried when Alex was in their care. Despite us traveling for weeks at a. Time, our pets never showed signs of stress or "anger" when we returned, unlike even short stints in the kennel. She is kind hearted, caring, and more than able to give loving care to any pets. She has even fostered dogs, including her own failed foster, whom she adores. I trust Alex completely with the care and well being of my pets.

Alex is the quintessential animal lover, and her love of animals shines through every single day and through every interaction. Alex has been a big help when we have needed some help in a pinch with care for our dog Penny. She is compassionate, caring, understanding and patient all of which are important traits when caring for animals. She has a wide range of experience with all different breeds and sizes of dogs, cats, and other animals, and her experience as a dog foster mom has really given her exposure to a wide variety of temperaments and needs of animals. Alex is the perfect person if you need an extra hand with your pup and she will love and care for them as her own whether you are just at the office away or away on vacation. Alex is the perfect choice for a pet sitter, I highly recommend her!

Alex takes great care of our two high energy pit bill mixes, Sierra and Milo, and our grumpy kitty, Pippin. She's great with large dogs, giving them lots of exercise and love, but is also confident enough to remind them who is in charge. She also sends us pics and video updates of playtime, which is thoughtful and considerate. When we leave our "kids" with Alex we're confident she'll give them the same level of love and care they'd receive if we were home. We can't say enough good things about her! :)

Information Alexandra F. would like to know about your pet

I would love to know your pup's quirks ahead of time - we all have them! Is your dog well-socialized? Are there any anxieties? What does your pup love most? What is your pup's play style / level? What are you looking for in a sitter / dog walker? No breed preferences, but aggression not tolerated.

A typical day

Your dog should pack its hiking boots because we will be out and about as much as possible! Daily walks along the river, quick hikes up the local mountains, dedicated time playing fetch, plenty of time socializing with other mutts and humans. In winter? There will be snowshoeing jaunts and beach time as allowed by usage laws. And of course plenty of time to relax with a bone in front of a football game. All of the above is dependent on your dog's preferred activity level / ability. My goal is to provide as much stimulation as possible, and outdoor adventures accomplish that in both a mental and physical capacity. If your dog is reliable off-leash, it will enjoy the freedom of the wind in its ears. If you're interested in working toward reliable recall, we can discuss further.
