Pet care experience
My husband and I have both owned dogs of various breeds for our entire lives! In August 2019 we lost our sweet Cavapoo to cancer, and in March 2020 we rescued the sweetest “double doodle” named fletcher, who just turned 1 in July! He loves other dogs, and we are at the dog park very frequently! We have had dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments and love them all equally! We have also had years of experience with dogs who require special medical care, as our previous dog was on medication his entire life for allergies. I know how hard it is to leave your fur babies, so it is our mission to give them the best love and care possible! My husband is a civil engineer and I am a therapist at an organization here in Grand Rapids! Our schedules are very flexible as we both currently work from home due to Covid! We live in a subdivision in Ada where we have an acre of land. We have a love for hiking and frequent Seidman Park in Ada as well! We are used to walking our dogs at least three times per day in our neighborhood, while also providing play time outside in our yard. We absolutely LOVE animals and our home is their home when they’re with us! We want to make it as comfortable as possible for them, and treat them as part of our family. We cannot wait to meet your fur babies!

Alexa and Shawn are the picture of perfection when it comes to loving animals of all kinds, especially dogs! I have never seen two people have the amount of true authentic compassion, and take the time to connect with each unique language of every dog they meet and always put the welfare and needs of every animal is at the top of their priority list. They understand how dependent our four legged furry friends are on their owners and caregivers and literally treat every dog as if it is their own! I have personally witnessed shy, timid dogs come out of their shell and develop immediate trust with both Alexa and Shawn alike. They have so much love, passion and natural born compassion for all animals and I honestly can’t think of anyone I would trust more to care for my dog (or any animal or child for that matter!) than these two amazing people! They are in the “less than 1% category of “the best of the best!”
We could not have asked for two nicer people to care for our dog than this wonderful couple! They have a lovely home and made her feel welcome and comfortable from the moment they met our dog. They provided not only detailed updates on her daily stay but awesome photos of her having fun. She sometimes is shy about eating in the beginning but they had her eating and playing almost immediately after we left her. She had a lot of attention, play time and socializing with this dog-loving couple! I would highly recommend them and plan to continue contacting them in the future.
Alexa and Shawn went above and beyond for our dog Fitz. They watched him over Thanksgiving while we were out of town and gave him so much play time and exercise and love that he came home a very happy and very tired pup! We got multiple photos a day and they were always responsive to our texts. We will absolutely be using them again in the future!! Thank you Alexa and Shawn!!
Alexa has been a dog sitter for us for the past 5 years. Everything from stopping over for a quick walk, to a weekend sleepover. During this time we had to say good-bye to our 13 y/o standard poodle (Alexa cried along with us), and now as we welcome our new 6 month old puppy in to our house. Alexa shows such wonderful patience with her. The best part is when we need to go out of town and Alexa is dog sitting, I know my new puppy will be loved and well taken care of. I would highly recommend her as a dog walker and sitter.

We live in Ada so we are close to many parks and trails that we love to visit often! We also live on an acre in a subdivision, so lots of space to run and play! We are used to walking our dogs a minimum of three times per day, in addition to regular potty breaks and lots of play time! :) We also allow the dogs we watch to have full run of the home while we are away, as long as they are comfortable with that.

A typical day
We love going for walks through our subdivision, as well as at Seidman Park in Ada! We also have a large backyard that has tons of open space to play! If you are comfortable, we often take our pup to the dog park in Cascade, and he loves it!

My husband and I are both working from home due to Covid and will be for the foreseeable future! This allows for lots of play and potty breaks throughout the day, and lots of time to go for walks before and after work!
