I grew up raising two dogs in my family household. I was the one who trained both of them and walked them regularly. From freshman year of high school until now, I have volunteered at the animal shelter called North Shore Animal League. I've worked in both the puppy room and taken care of the full grown dogs (ages 2-10 years old). I was trained by the shelter to care, walk, and feed all types of dogs. I even have had to deal with dogs that have temperament issues or emotional issues from being abused or abandoned in the past. After moving to Florida for college, I have taken in a friends puppy and now raise her myself. I trained her to walk next to me without a leach, shake hands, dance, say "I love you" and various other tricks. She truly is the most amazing dog and means the world to me. Dogs have always been a part of my life and I couldn't imagine life without them. I hope to one day open my own no kill animal shelter.
