I am a Zoology major at SIU and I have owned animals my entire life. I currently have a horse and a dog. One of my dogs lives with my mom since I am a full time student while the younger one, a golden retriever lives with me in Carbondale. He gets along with all dogs and is very welcoming to new dogs and helps them all to feel right at home. Before I moved to Southern Illinois, I worked for a dog boarding center that also specialized in helping owners and dogs work out behavioral issues. I was a kennel technician and worked closely with the owner and trainer of the facility. I understand animal behavior and work to make animals feel as at home as possible when they are with me. I also have experience giving meds in all forms. I have no roommates, so there is no issues there. If your dog enjoys long walks, then s/he can join me out at the barn on a long line where s/he can explore pastures and forestry. If your dog is more of a lounge around all day, there are plenty of places in my apartment for him or her to do that as well! I have experience with most dog breeds including but not limited to, Dalmatians, bully breeds (bull terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire terriers) , terriers( westies, Wheaties, Norfolk terriers, Airedale’s, jack russels), poodles, sighthounds (Italian greyhound, greyhound, Saluki, whippets, , herding and working breeds (border collies, Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, German shepherds). I am comfortable with all breeds and all types of animals! I am wonderful with timid animals and can work with them on their fears and/or help them to be more at home quickly.
