Pet care experience
I've always loved spending time with dogs and have been the main caretaker and trainer of my parent's three dachshunds since I was a kid. As a young adult, I've loved bonding with my friends' dogs while sitting for them during short and long stays alike. My husband and I got our first dog together two years ago. Raising and training Remy, a Vizsla male with unlimited energy, has fast tracked my dog care experience. He's a LOT of dog and I absolutely love it. About a year ago I started caring for dogs over Rover. It's been a wonderful experience for us and I've especially enjoyed learning how to communicate with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personality types. Cats are good people too! We have a kitty named Castro and I've had and cared for a handful of others as well. For cats I'm happy to provide drop-in services and potentially house sitting if it works with my schedule.
Reviews
We had great experience with Alex. Our puppy "Zuko" had a great time with Alex and his dog Remi.
Alex was wonderful watching our active and energetic 1 year old puppy for a long weekend. They went on great walks and adventures and I trusted our puppy was comfortable and well-taken care of. We’ll definitely use Alex again.
Alex is awesome! My pup was well taken care of and I learned quickly that i had nothing to worry about while she was with Alex. I was super grateful for the updates as well. Thank you for caring for our pup!
Alex took great care of my shepherds during day care, they were all tuckered out from their walk! Looking forward to having Alex take of them in the future.

Ideally I'm looking to care for dogs that will get along with Remy. (He's extremely social and playful, but also responds well when other dogs tell him they need space.) I'm happy to adjust to you and your dog's needs in terms of exercise, exposure to other dogs, and on/off leash comfort levels. P.S. I won't take a dog off leash for a hike or to a large park like Isabel without first establishing reliable trust/communication and especially recall. My husband Andy also works from home most days and loves dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and activity levels. We have a house with a fenced in yard and plenty of comfy spots for dogs to relax. (Your dog would be allowed everywhere ours is, which is everywhere.) I'd love to chat over the phone or by text to figure out if my services would work for your pet and if they would be a good fit for our household!

Information Alex S. would like to know about your pet
I always ask about a dog's general routine for outings / exercise, what commands y'all might be working on together, and particular likes for getting comfy and cozy at home. We can discuss these topics (and whatever else is most important for your dog) at our meet and greet to make sure Remy and your dog get on well and that we're a good fit for each other too.
A typical day
I take Remy out twice a day for 1-2 hour off-leash adventures. (My basic rotation includes hikes at Wildcat Canyon, Tilden, or Redwood Bowl, trips to Isabel or Albany bulb, smaller local dog parks, and walks or runs at Point Pinole.) I would love to bring your dog along to one or both trips depending on what they want/need.

Availability
I'm a college professor with a very flexible schedule over the summer especially. If I find pets that are particularly good matches in our household, I'd love to continue caring for them during the year as well, either on a regular or occasional basis. I'm completely open through September; even after that, I work from home 2-3 days a week and so will adjust my calendar accordingly.
