20+ Acres, Ponds, Streams and Love!

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Alex and I'm a dog and animal lover through and through! I grew up around my grandparents dogs in upstate NY, have owned 3 rescue dogs in the past and often dog sit for friends. I have experience with dogs who have special needs such as emotional trauma/separation anxiety and am patient and understanding in such situations. I work from home in Four Mile Canyon (Boulder) on the lower level of an amazing custom built house with a creek, 2 trout ponds and 20+ acres of forest. While my interior space isn't huge the outdoor space makes this property heaven for dogs! The house and land was once used as a wolf dog sanctuary so it is setup and well suited for doggy day care and overnights. My job affords me a great deal of freedom to attend to and play with the dogs but If I am on my computer working during the day I have a large picture window of the yard where I can constantly monitor any dogs who prefer staying outside. My neighbors have several friendly dogs who like to come by say hello. Plenty of dog socialization up here in the Canyon! I'm an avid hiker and am out walking the trails every day regardless if I have dogs with me or not. Any pups who come up to stay can expect several walks during the day on the trails behind the house. If your dog has a thing for chasing squirrels they will lose their mind with the endless opportunity. Your pooch won't be disappointed and neither will you! =)

Alex was an awesome sitter! He listened to all of my concerns about leaving my 10-week-old puppy and really did a great re-assuring me that she'd be safe and have a great time; she did! Alex sent update photos and let me know that she was behaving and playing nicely. I'd recommend Alex to anyone who wants their pup to have a great day in the mountains!

Alex was great! Kept me up to date on the status of my pup and took her on a lot of adventures. He worked around my schedule and made this whole process really convenient for me. Highly recommend.

Alex took great care of Jojo at his place while I was away for a long weekend. Jojo came home happy and relaxed! I will definitely book with Alex again. Thank you Alex!

Alex was absolutely wonderful. He has a great property, with a creek and woods for dogs to explore, all within a boundary to keep dogs from wandering too far. We got updates of Greta's adventures, which was fun to see as well. We highly recommend Alex for a real doggie vacation!

A typical day

I like to first let new dogs get used to the surroundings both inside and outside. There will be lots of new sights and smells they need to check out! Once they have had a chance to explore, say hello to my dog, Lily, we typically will take a walk/hike just out the door where we have access to 1000's of acres of public land both National Forest and Boulder County Open Space. After a morning hike we'll come back to the house for snacks ( if that's acceptable within your dog's diet) and time to hang out in the yard or nap if your pup is tired. For dogs who enjoy swimming they can spend time in the ponds wearing themselves out while I toss the ball for them to retrieve! =) An afternoon hike is of course in order to ensure more exercise and activity before we make the drop off or pick up to return your dog back to you.
