Plenty of exercise and cuddles

Pet care experience

I work from home, which means your dog will be under my care 90% of time throughout the day, the remaining 10% being the occasional grocery shopping trip. We have a small fenced back yard for taking care of business every 1-2 hours and sunbathing when we are not on walks. I owned various breeds(beagle, husky, German shepherd, Labrador and now a mix Jack Russel terrier - very relaxed indoors, very high energy outdoors). Owned dogs with food allergies, so I am comfortable providing extra care and assistance with specific food or medication. Most treats or dog food at our house are hypoallergenic, so if you allow us to share, that is the type of treat your dog will receive. I love taking my dog out for walks (up to 4 times a day) and for exercise at the park (2 times a day) and, unless otherwise specified, your dog will most likely have the same schedule. There are two parks within 7-8 minutes walk from our home and we alternate between the two just to keep smells interesting. We have two extra beds, spare food bowls and plenty of chew toys, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own. We also have raincoats and winter jackets for dogs up to 20 lbs in case you forget theirs at home when dropping them off. When it's raining heavily or simply too cold for long walks, I'll take out the interactive games to avoid boredom. Our house rule is that all paws must be cleaned when coming back from the park or from walks, as we like to cuddle up on the couch. I am rather petite so I cannot take care of dogs that are larger than 28 lbs. and pull heavily on the leash when walking. Since the nature of our park runs is off leash, I cannot take in dogs who do not respond to their own name when called, who lunge towards other dogs or people or who play aggressively with smaller dogs like the one we have. An example of good dog play style can be found on doglifetraining website. This is the play behavior I promote with my dog - not overly protective as they must learn how to control their own excitement but also not tolerating overly dominating behavior. My training method is with tasty treats and timeouts(sit or down).

Alecsandra took fantastic care of our pup! She gave great updates and sent adorable pictures throughout the day. She took care of Hank just as she took care of her own dog and made sure he had plenty of outside time, resting time and play time. We will definitely have her watch Hank again!

My dog Moxie absolutely loved staying with Alecsandra. Her dog, Sasha, is a wonderful companion, and they enjoyed frequent trips to the nearby park. She also had a backyard which is great for short trips outside in bad weather. I'd highly recommend Alecsandra and will definitely be working with her again.

Alecsandra is super sweet and a fantastic dog sitter! Samson stayed with her for 5 days and we could tell he enjoyed every minute of his stay based on all the photos and updates Alecsandra sent. He got plenty of indoor/outdoor playtime and even a nice walk through Boston Commons. Samson especially loved playing with Sasha and all her toys. We can't thank Alecsandra enough for taking such wonderful care of Samson and welcoming him into her home like family. We would use her services again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

Information Alecsandra M. would like to know about your pet

It would be great if you could provide me with a picture of your dogs vaccine such as rabies and Bordetella. Ideally the pooch would be potty trained - if not then please let me know so I schedule potty breaks more often than normally. All paws are cleaned when entering the house either with disposable dog wipes or with a gentle rinse in the shower so I should be aware if your dog dislikes having his/her paws touched or is afraid of water. I would also like to know how active your dog is and how well she/he interacts with other dogs, especially small dogs like the one I own, and people. This way, I can plan activities specific to your dogs preference. Over the weekends I might need to leave the house for up to 3 h to do the weekly shopping and I would like to know beforehand if your dog is used to staying home without supervision (with my pooch as company).

A typical day

We will go on walks around Cambridge and we have two parks to choose from for exercise. I also have a number of dog toys that provide entertainment when indoors (chew toys or mental stimulation toys).
