I was the owner of a beautiful Akita rescue for 14 years, who passed away in 2016. These days I volunteer at the Guelph Humane Society as a driver and dog walker to get my dog fix every week. But I need more! I work full time during the week, but have weekends and evenings free to hang out with your dog. Having owned an Akita I have the skills and confidence to handle your dog safely and securely regardless of its size. I live in a dog friendly house with no other pets, which is located on the edge of town and right beside a nice trail system. My backyard is small but it is fenced in and still has a dog house there as well.

Alec treats my Rocky like his best friend. His walks include lots of pets, and he lets Rocky sniff as much as he likes without rushing him. Alec also makes sure Rocky behaves well around people and other dogs, and he doesn’t let Rocky lapse on his training. We’re grateful to have Alec around when we can’t be there. Rocky loves him so much!
Alec is wonderful with our dog Jack so playful and takes the time to pet him all over as Jack enjoys the treats too ! We have had Jack hangout all the time with Alec he is a natural with animals and they love him too! Alec also volunteers at a shelter your pet would love to hangout with him.
Alec is has a done a wonderful job taking care of our dogs. He treats them as his own, and has the highest expectations for going on walks and taking care of the dogs needs. Alec really cares for the dogs well being and that both he and the dog have a great experience.
Many people claim to be dog lovers but Alec is the real. He has a genuine affection for dogs. In the 30-plus years that I've known him I don't know that I've ever met a more dedicated dog owner. He has a true soft spot for animals but dogs in particular which is always tempered with a hint of discipline. For example, when he comes to our home our dogs are always excited to see him however he will always withhold his "scritches" until they stop jumping on him. Then he gives them what they want.
