At his point in my life, after losing my life partner of 50 years to pancreatic cancer in 2019, I have turned to another love in my life, my cats. They are my solace. They were my soft place to fall. Before he died, I had T.C. (Top Cat), and he is the white and gray boy pictured with me some years back. You could say he was the 'family' cat. Then I got my Tabitha, who has become 'BabyKitten' and knows I only address her as Tabitha when she has purposefully knocked something off the table, which is often. Something happens to a person when they find themselves suddenly alone. Pets that were a loving warm presence in a family, shared and cared for by all, suddenly become the focal point for the survivor. No longer the 'family' pet, but rather very dear and close friends. In a heartbeat, they perceive and respond to ease your pain. I have a deep emotion toward cats, especially now, because they have been my reason to smile during these past three lonely years. So, without further ado, I will briefly say that I already love your cat. I love all cats. I live in a large house, which my son has made the top floor into my apartment. My two little people are 100% inside cats. I have leashes that I walk them on a little from time to time to smell the bushes, but they really prefer not. They are gentle, sweet cats, although my girl gets the hunter stance when she sees the Jays outside the window. Naughty girl. I have taken the liberty of opting only to have your precious feline stay here with me, as I do not like to go out if possible. The only thing I can add is that I would not just view him/her as a job, but as a new friend. I would respect their wishes regarding closeness, but my bed is always available, and cuddles are very available.
