I don't bite!
Pet care experience
I have been looking after other’s pets intermittently for the past 8 years. I have experience staying overnight with pets, coming by daily to walk and feed them, and visiting them during the day to keep them company. I grew up with cats and have a foster cat of my own, so I am very comfortable taking care of felines. Although I haven’t ever had a dog, I have looked after many dogs small and large, young and old, calm and rowdy. I don’t have experience with dogs under 1 yr, and no training experience. I can’t host animals at my own apartment, but am more than happy to come to your home where your pets would be most comfortable, anyways.

Ailsa did an amazing job! We adopted our 6 year old terrier mix Essa about 7 months ago and this was the first time we were leaving her overnight. Essa is dog reactive and has some separation anxiety along with other special quirks, so we were nervous about finding the right person to be with her while we were gone. Ailsa put our minds to ease with her calming demeanor and past experience with dogs. She was very easy to communicate with and kept us up to date with pictures throughout the weekend. Essa was a happy, relaxed doggo when we returned. We would definitely recommend Ailsa and she will be our first choice for future trips!

I like to let pets approach me so they know I'm not a threat and so we can become more comfortable gradually. I love to sit and cuddle with animals, give them pets and scratches while we relax. Some pets are more independent and others more clingy, I can work with whatever your pet's needs are! Please let me know what your dog’s typical daily routine is, so I can stick to that as best I can to keep some consistency in their lives. If they have any medical or behavioral issues I should know about, how they’ve done when you’ve left them before, what tricks they might try to play on me to get attention. Let me know what you like to do with your dog, what activities or games they prefer, how active they are, if they bark or bite, don’t do well with other animals or other people, this is all good information for me to have so I can best take care of them.
A typical day
I like to walk through the residential neighborhoods in the area to stay away from traffic and give your pet a place to roam safely and sniff out who might have been there before. I don’t like to rush dogs on their walks, I give them plenty of time to explore and smell whatever they like. If you’re close, sometimes I’ll walk along the river by the woods for a change of scenery. If it’s nice out and your pet likes to roam outside we could visit a park or the college campus near me where there’s plenty of space to run around. I like to make sure your pet is showered with affection and not bored at home. I would see if any toys spark your dog’s interest or if they’d prefer to lie down and get pets. I like to see where they go in your home on their own and what their favorite spots are, and keep them company there.

Availability
I recently graduated college and am still looking for a long term job, so I have most of the day free, almost every day! I do have a cat of my own at home to take care of, so can’t stay at your place 24/7. I don’t have a vehicle so I take the bus or walk to any gigs, thus prefer staying within 1 or 2 miles of my home. If the commute is substantial, I may ask you to pay for my time traveling as well.
