Active walker & sitter 🐱 🐕

Pet care experience

**PLEASE NOTE: My petsitting books are currently closed for new clients except for major U.S. holidays. If you are looking for dog walks, please just get in touch with me to get a better sense of my availability!*** I've volunteered to care, socialize and walk dogs of all sizes at three shelters since 2010: Spokane County Regional Animal Protective Services (S.C.R.A.P.S.), Arizona Humane Society, and Seattle Animal Shelter. At each shelter, I've attended trainings to learn how to safely walk dogs of all sizes, practice good body language, test and describe temperament. Much of my experience as a volunteer is working with large shy or anxious dogs in shelters, but I've been raised around smaller boisterous pups - two of which (Shi Tzu / Yorkie mixes) I love walking and caring for when I'm staying at my family's house. I began petsitting in late 2020, and deeply appreciate the joy that caring for every single one of the dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens has brought me over the past 2+ years. Along the way, I picked up not only long-lasting bonds with some of these pets, but many tips and tricks for a petsitter to keep in their toolbelt. I love spending time with animals of all sizes, and have continuously sought out opportunities as a volunteer to enjoy their uplifting company. Thanks for considering me to take care of your fur baby!

Adrianna has been walking our high-energy pups for a while, but she was able to house sit for her us for the first time last weekend and she was amazing! She provided us with regular updates and pictures and took excellent care of our home. I know our dogs had the best time with her. Totally recommend Adrianna for any of your dog care needs.

I have loved having Adrianna make several visits and walks and so does my Golden. He is always ecstatic to see her. She has never had issues with access and sends great feedback after the walks.

Adrianna is fantastic. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my babies are very well taken care of. We have a mixed crew, a senior with needs, a cuddly chichis, and a very active aussie, yet she was able to bond with all of them and make them all happy . I am very happy. Adrianna was also very communicative and kept us informed about the crew. She also stayed at our place, and the house was super clean. She went the extra mile to make sure that the crew was well taken care off as well as our house.

Training as a dog socializer at various shelters has made me a massive fan of visibility on walks to keep me and your pet safe - this means keeping high awareness as we navigate sidewalks, streets, and other animals. When we're walking, I always ensure cars can clearly see us (including wearing high visibility gear when light is dim), caution is exercised near the street or troublesome areas, and my body language clearly leads the walk. If necessary, we also work on good walking habits such as waiting for my cue to cross any intersection, becoming less reactive to other dogs, and maintaining good leash tension (not pulling). Of course, I'm not always business - we always have fun out in the fresh air once I get to know your dog's temperament! COVID-19 NOTICE: I'm fully vaccinated + boosted and continuing to exercise risk mitigation (wearing appropriate PPE, avoiding locations that lend to potentially high levels of airborne virus transmission) in order to continue to keep the risk of potentially spreading virus in my community as low as possible. I also recognize that for some, such as the immunocompromised, these types of mitigation strategies need to be in place for the foreseeable future, and there is no return to "normal". I am happy to speak with new clients over the phone as opposed to a traditional in-person meet & greet and/or organize no-contact key exchanges, and weather allowing will disinfect surfaces and circulate air when I arrive and leave your place.

Information Adrianna O. would like to know about your pet

Things I'd like to know about your animals: - Do your pet(s) have any allergies or medications? - Do your pet(s) have any anxieties or triggers? (i.e. other animals, children, thunder/fireworks, separation anxiety) - Do your pet(s) have a routine (i.e. specific feeding time(s), walking times, bed time, etc.)? - Are we actively working on establishing any specific commands or good habits? Please let me know if there are any specific quirks about your pet that I would need to know to make sure they are comfortable and getting the best care they can from me. As someone who has cared for many pit bulls, huskies, rottweilers, dobermans, great danes, and other big dog breeds, I believe that every dog has a unique personality, kind heart and ability to learn with enough patience and trust. I don't believe in "dangerous" breeds and I will never shy away from a dog based on breed or appearance. No animal is too big, small, loud, boisterous or timid for me to love!

A typical day

I've learned in shelters how disorienting it can be for some animals to have a stranger entering their space. I might spend as much time as possible the first day or so of housesitting bonding with playing, cuddling and earning their trust. You'll find I ask specifics about their routine and what they enjoy most. Once I get to know their personality, we do whatever fun stuff they want! For dog walking, I definitely like to meet & greet first and walk around their hood before I take them to parks or on field trips to other neighborhoods.
