I started taking care of dogs once i took in Coco, my chihuahua min pin. From there it was love at first sight. Cheesiness aside, it really did change my life. Coco has been a breeze to take care of, she listens to my commands due to the bond that we share rather than the sternness in my voice. Last year Coco was diagnosed with Anemia, Coco could not produce enough red blood cells to keep herself healthy. After a short scare and a trip to the doctors office, my mom and I had to prepare special meals for her every day and make sure she was taking the medication that she needed. She has since sprung back to life and is healthier than ever, I am very thankful we caught the signs before it was too late. I take her out for a minimum 30 minutes a day to ensure she has enough exercise to keep the blood flowing, and to keep her mind active. Usually a nice walk will suffice, but she prefers a trip to the park anyday. Aside from my own dog, I often sit for pets of my family as well. My aunts dog Leila is an old english bulldog. She is the sweetest dog that i know (aside from my own of course). Any day that im sitting for Leila, we play out in the yard, we go for a walk around the neighborhood, food is prepared and of course snuggles are had. I enjoy sitting for dogs, they rely on us for everything in their lives and are eternally grateful for taking care of them. There is no greater feeling in the world than the affection our pets show us, we owe it to them to make sure they are in good hands which is why i think that Rover is such a great platform for people like me who just want to make sure that dogs get the attention and treatment that they deserve.
